Any tips for loosening large ORFS hose ends in hard to get at places?

I am trying to get the hose off that runs from my oil cooler to the filter housing. I got the cooler end loose. The filter end is buried up underneath and has some give making it hard to get a solid pull. No way to get two wrenches on it.

I have tried prying on the wrench handle with a pry bar but housing gives until I bottom against the trans and the wrench won't move any further.

I'm about to cut the hose and see if I can find a splice but I want to replace the hose proper.

My other idea is to try and cut the fitting close enough to get a socket on it.

I know vibration can help but I don't want to bugger up the flats.

Air hammer is the best option, whacking the wrench sometimes works, or some heat too but really the air hammer is hands down the way to go
No dont be cutting the hose thats not going to solve anything

Hey Jonas302 & posrepair2013, You say use an air hammer. I have removed a lot of hydraulic fittings over the years but have never used, or seen an air hammer used. I am a big fan of air hammers, and I like to learn....how are you using the air hammer? putting a flat tipped bit against one of the flats on the nut?

Thats right just a flat chisel bit not to sharp just enough to grab maybe 1/4 of the way from the edge of the flat pushing counterclockwise its amazing how fast it will loosed a o ring face fitting although works on jic type too and lots of other things threaded radiator fans for example

If its real tight might mar the faces but I have never had trouble reusing a hose that way

The ORFS is merely a threaded cap holding a flat against the r-ring. The trick is to get the threads to move. A bit of penetrating oil helps.

Thanks guys. The air chisel got it loose. I had contemplated that path but was reluctant to take it. I didn't want to mess up the flats then need to reuse or still find I had to wrench it. As it turned out I was able to reuse the fittings and it didn't mess it up too bad.

Thanks Jonas302, I will put that in my memory banks for the next tough fitting.
