A new clutch comes with two 3/4x3/4 wood blocks or a throw away plastic u shaped piece that the manufacture installs between the clutch cover and throw-out bearing,
It helps with installation because it holds the clutch in a slightly depressed position so the clutch cover basically touches the flywheel sooner. Loading the clutch on the
input shaft and installing as a unit is the easiest way. Just slide the clutch cover onto the input shaft and with clutch fork fingers pointing straight out and the clutch brake
already installed on the shaft. Push the clutch cover back and rotate the clutch fork fingers over the throw out bearing and using the fork to pull it the rest of the way it
will pull clutch cover and clutch brake into position then install the clutch discs and intermediate plate in there proper positions, {Note the FWS I marked on the disc
in the photo above-Fly Wheel Side} The other would say PPS-Pressure plate side.

I think the reason the mounts were on the trans bell was that it eliminated the need for a rear trans support because the trans assy was better balanced. ya, they were a pita but they seemed to work ok. I made up an attachment for a light-duty trans jack with an old input shaft for clutch installations so I can load the assembly onto the jack in the vertical position, wheel it under, jack it up, and stuff it in. I work alone so I hate getting in and out from under too many times.

I have been doing it that way for a while now, I have a bad back and am not able to lift the assembled clutch on to the flywheel. I have always thought about building a floor jack attachment to lift it but it just works so much better doing it that way. It is the only way to go. It helps if you have someone else to bar it over for sure.

I have the OTC clutch jack and only use it for removal. And its handy for flywheels.

We have a jack that has attachments for both clutch/flywheel and rear drive units. I always drop the clutch with the transmission too. The attachment for rear drives works real well
on the front drive.

I apparently live in the area where Mack guys from Massachusetts cross with Westernstar guys from Canada and every truck has rear engine mounts in the trans. Caught a kenworth this week and thought wow just pull the trans no engine bs.

Brader had both coe's and conv, and some of the Freightliner coe's had the crows nest sleeper on top of cab. Brader didn't have many of those just a few.

Yep, actually looked at buying one of the wide nose Petes with a 903 to make a home for a Silver 92. It was pretty clean, but by the time you added everything up... James (my GMC 9500) was a better deal.:)

A number of small lines in Missouri liked them for one reason or another.
Know of one Independent that had one in a K100, he passed away truck got sold to logger and he converted to a 8v92 from a wrecked Freightliner he had. Boat anchor went to MS River service, boat engine and have not seen or heard of since.
