Now that its dark alot more i have been useing a light more often. Is it me or does every light lose its brightness? My big maglight has a bark spot in the center of its beam i changed its bulb but that didnt help and it dosent seem any better than a candle.

These new pen lights have insanely bright lamps, no dark spots. Some are rechargeable. Our company supplies us with a little 4x6 LED floodlight with a magnetic base. It recharges off a USB and runs nearly 6 hours before fading

I've got a bunch of the old yellow beams that go dark just before you are doing something critical. This time of year I get the Costco packs of batteries and I'm just hating them. Does anyone know if there might be a retro LED bulb or set up that might replace the filament burners. I hate to just throw away something that works but it looks like the new technology might make me add to the landfill problems again.

I found a LED upgrade for my maglight on amazon. A big improvement. Also becoming a fan of the headlight type lights.

I have carried a Sure fire LED light for 13 years. I ran over it once with a 16 really tough, really spendy though and the batteries are those 123 lithiums also a little pricey. However it cranks out bright dot free light. I also carry a Dewalt 20 volt 3 LED light. If those don't do it... I'm waiting daylight.

Microstream made by Streamlight. They are small and only take 1 AAA battery that seems to last a long time. My current one is rechargeable and is really bright.

This is the rechargeable they supply us with. I'm continually impressed with it.

Maglights go in the trash unless you have the need to club someone in the head.

Switched to a Streamlight Stylus Pro pocket flashlight years ago and always have it with me. It's blindingly bright. On the shelf at the local Batteries + Bulbs stores everywhere I've been.
