Working a Komatsu d65 in new Zealand flattening out Hills on a dairy farm.sandy dirt no rocks.owner just purchased unit with about 10000 hours. U/c pretty fair but track jumps out of bottom rollers on a side slope.all 8 of them. Quite a clattering but doesn't throw track off- so far.there are no track guards whatsoever.wondering if one or maybe two short guards like excavators often have would be a realistic solution?

Better to get full length ones made for that model of 65 , should be some x forestry ones around .

The guards I believe you are talking about are rock guards. They are designed to keep rocks from wedging in your track/rail system and NOT to keep the tracks on the rollers. If you have the rails coming off of 8 lower rollers, then your internal pin and bushing wear on your rails is pretty severe. Also, the outer flange of your lower rollers may be broken or missing altogether. You may try tightening your track tension up to a snug fit to help.
Also, installing rock guards at this point will only get them destroyed along with your rail links and pins.

The rollers look good. They have double flanges or inside ad outside of rails. Nice crisp corners no significant wear.Interestingly the machine came with a full set of new rollers on a pallet, that only have the usual outer flange.
I agree the chains must have lots of pin slop .did not measure anything t,l,of meat on links and sprockets look good.im back in Canada now so cannot easily do pics.im of the belief that track or rock guard do help keep rails on rollers since they pretty much prevent the roller flange from dropping into groove between rails where it should not be.at least it worked that way when I put them on my excavator which had the same issue.i just did a single one in middle in that instance.

Dozers of that size usually have two double flange rollers at the front and then alternate single double the rest of the way. The roller next to the sprocket is always a single flange. All the rest of the information above it right on.
