Mine had an attempted theft in which the thief, deciding it was too much work to steal my compressor, decided to cut the wires on the coil, steal the coil, air cleaner, and carb.

He got bit by a Great Pyrenees and abandoned the operation.

Here is the info I need:

On a Smith 100CFM Ford 302 V8 with electronic ignition there were two wires that went to each side of the coil,

Gallery:
The colors of the wires are: brown, green, red, and black
Distributor is 84-87 302 style, it is an electronic ignition on the vehicle. He cut the wires on the coil, we have not been able to find the coil, the people who own SMITH have nothing to say to me, manual is no longer available on web.

I remember distinctly that two wires were joined at a female spade terminal on each side and slipped over the male terminal on each side. But I have no way of knowing which way this goes.

Does anyone have a Smith Tow Behind Compressor to look at ? I've tried asking on SmokStak but I think it is a bit too new.

Thanks, I got a coil, it's like you said, matches the old one. If you get a chance to look, I'd be extremely grateful.

I dont see the brown like yours 1/4 qc terminals to the coil and see if it will start
My wiring is pretty hacked by previous "mechanic"

These are pretty cool compressors they run a ford 302 on 4 cylinders using standard distributor with the extra four wires grounded out the non firing side has a special head in it never been inside so not sure if there are any differences in valve train ect with the 120 gal tank it runs the heck out of a 1 inch gun

For what its worth I found the manual for your air compressors. But, it cannot be downloaded even tho it has a download page. All you will get is .pdf file of blank pages.
My workaround that is to take a screenshot of each and every page if you want the manual bad enough.
The images below are an example of what I did.

Thank you. You saved my bacon. Green and Brown to Negative on mine, brown goes to a cutoff solenoid on mine. Red and black to positive. Brown is the oil pressure interrupt. Black is from the solenoid on the head.

The only Gordon Smith or Smith I ever knew to be bad was the one the successor company(pre-BossAir) got some 477 engines and they stuck them in place of the 460. I had a 477 in a truck and it was bad, but in a compressor it was terrible.

THANK YOU.

The manualslib has a manualslib.com watermark over the coil, making it unseeable. The other thing they did was use the 460 manual for 302, like there was no difference, and unfortunately there is. Besides that manuals lib's scan- if you have a 460 and don't worry about burning something up, you can trace back using the manualslib method you did. THANKS!

Is this a little better ? :)
Too bad the publisher didn't print better images.
