815 Transferring Oil Between Trans and Engine

has anyone seen any of the older 815 980 and D8 type machines from the 70’s transferring III between the engine and trans? I’ve been told by one of our older operators that there’s a seal between the engine and main oil pump that’s let go and is allowing oil to move between the trans and engine oil pan? This sound right? At the moment we just have to drain excess oil occasionally from the trans to get it down below over full. Curious what’s this going to take to repair.

have you checked other compartment levels? i.e. hydraulic system
is the trans oil turning black or discoloured?

Will pull serial and send. Only affected compartments are engine and transmission. I was told that older D8s, like an H or K have this same issue if a seal fails between pump and housing on the block. This trans oil is black.

It's the seal in the transmission pump on the D-8.

If your dealing with a 815 you have a 3306 engine ,altogether a different than a D 342 in a D 8 .
The transmission pump drives off the flywheel housing which should not have motor oil in it.
Need a better story as to what is going on.

Finally have gotten around to following up on some posts. Serial number on this machine is: 91P588. Will try to get some more details on the fluid transfer issue.

Bob,

Will try to get you some more info on the issue. I've posted the serial number: 91P588 so she is a late 70's model machine from what I am gathering.

If your 815 is transferring motor oil into the transmission it may be thru the rear main seal, but check the crankcase breather to make sure its not plugged that would push oil thru the seal.
