Well, my last job of the season was at our landfill. On top of three cells they wanted to build a 50m x 50m pad. With two access roads going up on top of the cells.

Day 1 I spend trying to half ways level three pad, dirt is free at the landfill so I was trying to get the one access road built a little for my trucks, and then the pad built up as much as I could with the dirt. Level it off as best as I could efficiently. Most of the material I was trying to work with was soaking wet, not very proactive for construction.

Day 2 I spent doing a lot of the same. And then started a little on the geotextile.

Day 3 I finished laying down geotextile cloth and covering with a 1-2” layer of fine crushed concrete recycle to keep the cloth down. And then started putting a lift of coarse crushed concrete recycle, around 5-6” chucks of concrete.

Day 4 finished covering in coarse crushed concrete, compacted, and then started on a final lift of fine crushed concrete.

Day 5 I finished laying the final lift, and then built myself a drag out of 3 used grader blades bolts and a chain. Got my crew to drag the entire pad to smooth it out. Then stockpiled 5 tandem loads of fine crushed concrete to build the banks up to prevent erosion and the edges from collapsing. And then laid my last strip of geotextile In a soft spot on the one access road, and covered both roads with fine crushed concrete.

The pad is going to be used for the cities organic waste pilot program. Pictures to follow in the next few posts.
