Using a 16 yard sauerman bucket on a yarder would have to be moving a lot of gravel in a short time. There is a fellow using a couple Linkbelt draglines pulling gravel with a sauerman bucket. I told him a few years ago that he should be using a yarder, but didin't know that it would handle a 16 yard bucket. I will have to share that fact and a few pictures, too.
im currently looking for a dragline sauerman if you know anyone im from illinois

My Skagit knowledge is basically zero, so someone please help ID.

Also : wishing I stopped to photo it, but I'm pretty sure there is a SY-717 right next to the road off of 101 near Neilton / Quinault WA in a literal (front) yard full of other old cool cars, trucks, equipment. Impossible to miss.

Ramsey yard in Chehalis, 739? There was a Skagit tube / Madill 046 combo machine as well plus a very large complete drum set off of an other Skagit, I think a 739. Healthy size and good shape.

The first photo in Ramsey yard is a 7:39 that has been sitting since the owl crisis-hit. Jim Ramsey went around and bought every large yarder he could at auction and for pennies on the dollar. He has made a fortune converting them to rock drags. The B&M yarder, one of them is a 739 the other one is a self-propelled bu 94 on a T100 HD carrier.

Did those 737s come with the option for the cab to be on either side? There's a self-propelled 737 down here and im almost positive that the cab is on the other side. Im probably wrong.

And yes, many of the later models gadgets like the 737 and 739 had the option to be ordered with a sliding cab. You are probably talking about Larry hoffenbredl 737 down in Grand Ronde, it has a sliding cab on a self-propelled T100 HD carrier and has the optional Slackline skidding drum on it.

No im further south than you might think. I don't think it's a sliding cab but I didn't look that close. It's not ours it's a contractors so he probably wouldn't love someone crawling all over it.

Hi chopper95 and thank you for bringing up some new photos in the yarder threads!

I think Skagit changed the standard location of the cab from right to left side at most of their yarders around 1980. Something with bigger radiators, I would say. They also modernized cab and control panel at about the same time.

Though, I have never seen a 737 with left hand cab, so a picture should be highly interesting!

Hallback,You're like the buddy I had in high school who's hard work in the summers got him both a sweet Camaro, AND a 427 Chevelle.(That was back when you could buy either for 2k ;-).
Our little SJ4 will be down here just in time for winter ops, dragging 40 in. dia. Sugar Pine and White Fir out of the draws.Our creativity will have to be much larger than our margins,but not owning or making payments on iron with data cables thicker than the motor mounts ,helps.
It frustrates me to no end that a big Skagit tube will not get up in on our spur roads where they would need to go. There's that 3 drum BU84 on tracks running around up your way.One of those would work,but they didn't exactly crank 'em out like they did VW Bugs.
Nice 737,thanks for showing it. Please update us on how well your planned system for it produces.

Our new to us SJ4 came home down from Or. a couple days ago.
What a different technology Skagit iron is compared to the John Deere, Cat,and Timbco I've Known the last 30 years.
It was custom rebuilt in the early 2000's with a turned up
Cummins 4bt,hydraulic tower raising,and cab lowering,a custom tower and much taller gantry with a center dead guy added.
The port side swing gear wedge brake clutch rigging was completely torn away at some point,so we are taking the identical one from the old boom topping drum shaft.We are going to use a pair of chain hoists on both the tower and gantry to lift the whole swing gear assembly up far enough.
This yarder reminds me more of the destroyer engineroom I ran for six years in the navy more so than logging iron.
We have to have it going at the 1st landing in early May.
