anybody know of a release tool for Cat DEF lines? They have an aggravating little clip that you have to fish out with a pick and hope you don’t break it during removal. It’s really aggravating when the def lines are barely accessible and they have tension on them.

Not sure. I found them elsewhere, they had a name for the fittings they serviced and when I looked up the fittings they looked different. I might try them

These fittings never release for me by pressing in. I always end up having to pull the clips out. Not sure if this is how it is supposed to be but I have never had any luck easily releasing any type of these junky different quick release fittings on anything, fuel lines or def lines

So looks like no release tools available but if you break the clips you can get them for $7 a box at NAPA (they have different sizes available) vs having to buy the line just for the clip

Apparently in the automotive world they are a form of fuel line clip.

Are you sure you're doing it right? All the ones I've seen you have to push the clip in to release, not fish it out.

On some machines yes they have ones with one and two button press in release style (also used on fuel lines) and I have tools to deal with those but these seem to be you have to get the clip out a little bit to release. When closed/locked the clip rim is against the fitting housing so no room to press in more to release

Doing that would be easy if the lines weren’t pulled right in the machine and not crowded against other lines

Now to install the lines you can have the clip locked in in the closed position the line will click right in place with no issues

Oh that's interesting. I'd be curious to see a photo of the type of fitting that you're having trouble with.

Sometimes the fittings come apart easier when hit them with air to clean out the diet from them.
