I replaced the coolant tank on a 08 KW because something was wrong with the float because i could turn the tank upside down and the low coolant would go out. The tank came with a new sender. It worked for about 2 weeks then the sender went bad i tested it and replaced it with the old one. That was about 30 days ago the driver said its showing low coolant agin.

Been there with Peterbilts, is this the sensor that just pushes up into the bottom of the tank without contacting the coolant? If it is, run a real PACCAR tank not those TRP aftermarket ones.

I finly had time to look at it agin . The lights have been on for some time. Today i found out the new tanks float isnt floating. I pulled the sencer half way out of the tank and the lights went out so for now i made a spacer out of heat hose so the prob is half way out of the tank lined up with the float at the bottom of the tank. What a joke the set up is i will call KW tomorrow to see if it has any warenty.

I called KW and they said they would replace it i told parts guy some one would be there early next day. I pulled it off and sent it with a driver they sold all 3 they had and said it would be some time next week before they had any more. So i had to put the old one back on.

I called last week monday to see if they got any more tanks in after alot of me explaining he said no they didnt have any i ask why then he said they had so much trouble with them they found something better that was a replacement but needed some stuff to make it work i ask if it came with any paper work telling how to make it work he didnt know. I ask if he would look he was stumped. I ask if i could have the parts number to look it up he rattled it off so fast i ask him to repeat he was even faster. I told him i would think it over. I called back latter thinking i would get some one else it was the same guy i went ahead and order one. It is diffrent but it looked like it could bolt up. Saturday i pulled the old one off and tryed to bolt the new one up. It wouldnt work and no one was at kw to help me. Today I called back and talk to 2 Tecs finely one said maybe it wasnt the right one and finely the parts guy said it was wrong. The only good thing about this is takeing the old one on and off has made the float work and the lights and buzzer has stayed off.

If you want to keep the buzzer off while you get the right tank, just glue a little magnet to the tip of the sensor. Than it thinks the tank is full.

I tryed puting a magnet aginst it but i couldnt make it work. Today i sent the replacement tank back and they sent me one like is on the truck.I cut the very first tank apart and some were i have the float out of it. I played around with it but i may have had a bad sensor. When i get time i will swap out the tank and hope it works for some time. I wonder if some typs of antifreeze would be better than others for this problem?

The truck has been in use every day and i havnt had time to change the tank out . Tomorrow it is going on a trip it is used localy most of the time so i wanted to swap out the tank so the driver wouldnt have to hear the buzzer. I had looked at the tank and it looked just like the old one but when i went to put it on it has one fitting that isnt the same size as the old one. With the other new wrong tank they sent a adapter that i sent back it was just what i needed. The parts guys are draining me of my smarts i thought about asking if the tank was a direct replacement but didnt.
