I found an old engine block in the woods, it said White Super Power on it. I doubt that would fly these days!

I think I told that story on here about some firemen who were forced to take an old derelict fire truck to the LA riots and it said that on the side of the hood except "White" was across the middle and super was above it and power was below it. Also said fire truck was painted white. When they got there the bosses found some work for them where their emblems would not be noticed by the local constituency.

Old Duplex bulldog box, a little rough around the edges with normal Bonda spots showing out. Definitely NOT worth $6400 do not care how well that bed works, might be worth $1400 where that will be sitting a while longer!!! The Hot Start can in the floor is a Dead Giveaway engine is weak.

As to the White Crate Engine, that I would also expect is a Military Multi Fuel and is a derivative of the old Mustang 6 engine. The Mustang is where I had seen the Center stud mounted valve cover as this one has.

I can remember seeing at least 3 REOs or White cabovers with chevy engines one was owned by a guy in town he told me it had a big block chevy and when i drove by it i could see its did. One time going to Kc i meet a guy driveing one that had a small block chevy. I saw one forsale that had a 327 in it witch would have been wright for the year it was. This made me think they came out with chevy engines but i have repowered 2 fords with GM engines so maybe they were repowered. I can remember alot about them but i cant remember exactly if they were REOS or whites.

I had no idea turbines were tried in trucks. I knew they were used in locomotives but costs drove them out.

What year was that taken, what fuel did it burn, why was it being tried, and how did it pan out?

Also, how loud was it?

Late 50's early 60's, cat pi$$, because ralph and george the designers were trying to keep there jobs, ralph and george both lost there jobs, everyone who drove it lost their hearing,

Kenworth was a big player in the Turbine game, they even tried one out in a Seattle fire truck, it wasn't very popular due to the time it took to spool it up but it was pretty fast.
Freightliner played with them too, one of their problems was the Turbine ingesting exhaust gas in tunnels that caused a backfire type event and flamed out the Turbine.
And fuel (kerosene) consumption was the big downfall to the whole thing.

IIRC Kenworth only experimented with five, one being the fire truck. The irony of a fire truck with a turbine. Freightliners endeavor was even smaller I believe. People thought a
large Hall Scott ate gas, it was a miser compared to the turbines. And yes starting out was a real let down, very slow.

central shenandoah valley va,
Ford had a futuristic Turbine truck around that same era too. Looked like a motorhome with a semi trailer.
ford story is at macs also. I had a first hand look at the gm being shown at a chev. dealer in fairfax va many yrs ago . with the screwy steering setup they had i wonder just how controlable that thing would have been on snow&ice
