Drove the 500 E up to the garage in June to put in new steering clutches. So got them in and started machine up and would not go forward or reverse. Pulled cover off transmission (3 speed) and looked at input shaft. Input shaft moves 1/4 inch when put in forward or reverse but no more. Plenty of oil in tranny going to reverser. Unit has torque converter. Can't understand why or what won't allow power to transmission.
Next I will try to find hyd. gauges to see what pressure shows at business end of reverser.
If you guys can give me a sound clue as to the problem, grateful I will be.

So tested the pressure on both forward and reverse on the auto reverser. Both showed 80 pounds. Will cut filters open and look for contaminants now. Keep trying!

before u get in too deep if it is like the 500c check the hose that supplies fluid to the convertor it is on the left side of the tranny; mine quit moving like that and the hose had a hole in it allowing the charge pump to suck air

Its more than likely something to do with the job you have done rather than a new problem . Does it sound like there is load on the motor when you shift it into drive of either direction ?
