Corona Clay Co has a 830M with dozer, Cat 29 cable unit. Used in the 80s to pull Cat 60 cable scraper and Southwest cable ripper. POS ride with that combo! No lack of power @ 430HP. Basically 824 with operater and controls facing engine. Don't remember 834 trans-drop box. Steel clutch piston rings instead of teflon type. Steering valve off scraper? Air brakes on 830M. Collectors, make an offer > scrape iron price.
Gday Stan ,do you know what years they made these and were they made only for the army.Pity they didnt make a big one mate they look like they went o.k.

I have a question re: Augers... what is their application? I have worked around cans a fair amount but never have ran one except to load them.

squid,
Military Spec only, years of production Vietnam Era mid60s to mid70s. The 2 in the video are very late production with later D343 non-waste gated turbos and small body forged fuel pump, could have spacer plates block also.

Augers are very good for loading sand especially dry sand, throws it into the bowl real good.Piacentini,s do alot of mineral sands mining so try different ways of loading quicker and easier.

631Gs with 633E back ends.Apparently there were 7 made somewhere in N.S.W.These are owned by Ertech from Western Australia.
Are those MEGA produced 633E sliding floor elevating scrapers? With G model tractors?
1st MEGA models were plagued with cracking goosenecks and draftframes per the ex assembly mechanic-employee.

Dont know Stan if their Mega produced.Didnt Cat produce a few 33Es?
Nope, Cat's last 633 was D model and 639 twin powered. Early sliding floor 633s were MEGA manufactured. Licensed Cat deal, using new 631E tractors.

Note: 657K SCEM videos were purchased by Cat. If you have downloaded copies, they'll be collector items, because no 657 (K-model) will be released.

What happened Stan?I know you said they put the wrong pistons in the one that was being tested but obvisouly something large has come about to can it altogether. Are they just going to keep remodelling the G maybe?

Looks like a return to the old style floor which although ive never operated a sliding floor, ive not heard anyone ever say they liked them.Another motor on the back would top it off,i dont like single power i know it will do the job but after being on 39s for awhile the extra power just makes everything alot easier.

Sorry squid, nothing that dramatic.
To be released for purchase as 657 >without< model letter destination on Sept 17th.
1962 to 2019 = 57yrs for Cat's 657 twin engine scraper series.

squid,
last PM from Gav Sept 19th, No, not in Cat system either although i have a price list i got from Decatur, 2.2M aussie dollars // Gav will give a heads up when Cat has the 657s in the dealer system.

TBH, who would buy new 657 Tier4 powered scrapers? Calif contractors are re-powering 657Es with Tier4 engines if required for fleet compliance-regulations.

Repowering 57E,s is not only alot cheaper than buying the new model but I think they would be keeping a much better machine, less electric,s to cause problem,s,a more solid machine, plastic and lightweight steel on new one,and the E would be smoother to operate as I believe they are the best ,Cat have ever made.My own opinion of course, alot may disagree.

Seen Ralph Metzel,s gear all up for auction,40 something 51B,s and around a dozen 660,s apparently plus lot,s of pushing tractor,s,all in good condition as from what ive seen over a few year,s is how Ralph was known to do it.He is having a well earned rest as he is in his 80,s now.I just hope that his gear is picked up by people who will continue to look after it and there,s some serious earthmoving that can be done with that or some of that gear, just not in California.
