I've read several reports about shooting sports and shoulder surgery (joint replacement, rotator cuff repair, etc.) and it seems to be 12 gauge shotgun and magnum caliber bolt rifles would be dangerous to shoot even after several months of therapy. However I think this would apply only if you needed to shoot from the surgery shoulder. The guys shooting trap and skeet really have their sport impacted since they need to mount and unmount the shotgun dozens of times, and they are shooting hundreds of rounds.
My ortho surgeon has a ranch in the area so maybe he hunts (like probably 95% of everybody out here), hopefully he will have some special insight about guns and shoulders.
