I've checked everything on fuel system right up to transfer pump .Plenty of fuel to there. Hand primer pump was in rough shape so went ahead and changed it incase it was sucking air. Changed secondary filter and cleaned the primary one. Still no difference.

Have you happened to remove the oil filler cap while it's running? First thing I do when I hear something amiss.

I sense more in-depth surgery in your future.

Haven't took off oil filler cap while running. I need dozer for another 60 hours to finish the job its on. Been on same job since first of the year and it's close to a hour and a half from where I can get parts. Hate to start tearing into it but also don't want to destroy the engine trying to finish the job

What you're looking for when you remove the oil cap is excessive or pulsating smoke/blow-by, and audible clues if something is out of the ordinary.

Good thinking. Haven't thought of checking that. My mechanic thinks it's internal .Like a head gasket blown between cylinders or a valve leaking. I've just been trying to cover everything on the outside of the motor before going in.

If it makes a noise like exhaust leak it could be an exhaust valve not seating properly and leaking a bit.
A video with sound would be nice.

I'll take a video tomorrow or Monday. Can you upload videos on here?
No. Easiest way I've found is to upload to YouTube, and then post a link. I thought of something else, only because we had it happen last fall. Not sure it could happen to a 3306, but we had an N14 that burned the head gasket through to the outside. It happened between the heads.

when these b models take a crap, you will find its usually started at the number 3 or 4 exhaust valves, they run hotter then the rest.turn engine over without fuel if its making a hissing noise usually bad exhaust valve seat. if no hissing run sight glass on fuel line to check for air bubbles, no bubbles then go to fuel pump.

looking forward to video

Fuel pressure looked good. Starting to head into motor. Only thing I've found so far is exhaust manifold gasket gone on #1 cylinder

OK, all good. Diagnosis is nothing more than a process of eliminating possibilities until you find the root cause. I think it would've been frustrating for you to get into the engine to find nothing then discover the fuel pump was foobarbed.

Yes usually it's easy to overthink things I've realized. Fuel was around 35 to 40 psi at idle. Exhaust manifold gasket is completely gone at #1 cylinder. I'm starting to think that maybe the whole problem. Cause I just have a slight power loss and the noise is coming from front of engine

Exhaust manifold gaskets fixed my misfiring. Had to double up on gaskets cause they had been leaking so long it ate a little off my manifold. Guess that's why my carbon build up was bad. Not enough exhaust through turbo. Didn't even break a stud off. Pb blaster all the way .

Cat even sent an extra set of gaskets on accident. I was lucky today. I may just go by a lotto ticket. Gonna buy some newer nicer not so worn out equipment if i win.
