Hello all-

Well, after overheatings and antifreeze loss, I drained a little oil today and looks like the typical milkshake. I guess I'll have to pull the head and take to a shop for repair. Is there a link here that addresses that in detail? I used one here years ago for rebuilding the spool valve and it was GREAT! ( thanks for that post ). Many thanks, you guys are the best.

i think your kubota engine in that bobcat is a v2203. Its a upgrade from the v1702-1902s (but same physical size long block). Theres a butt load of v2203s out in the market that are salvaged from OTR long haul reefers. Ebay has whole engines for like 2k. That is if your engine has more than just head problems. Hell i even see heads for the engines for 7-800 bucks on ebay. All kinds of models of bobcats use the v2203s in one configuration or another...or can reman older units that sported the v1702s

Good afternoon.
I have a Bobcat 773g turbo with around 2500 hours. It is a Kubota V2003T motor. Couple days ago was running it and big cloud white smoke shooting from exhaust. I shut it down immediately. It did have a hint of coolant sweet smell. I tried to restart and I recognized hydro lock. I took the head off and actually looks really good, the head gasket something to desire. Question I have is do I need to be looking into other things for possible issues? I removed the turbo and noticed the waste gate was stuck closed. Not sure for how long but I know for at least 500 hours since that is about what I put on it since bought used . I wouldn't figure a stuck waste gate on a turbo that small would really be cause for alarm since over the normally aspirated model only 12-15 hp more I believe. But I can't rule out added pressures may have helped in the head gasket failure. White smoke steam came out and black soot on the rear door just below exhaust pipe. Am I pointed in the right direction just changing the head gasket?. As I can tell cylinders good, no bent push rods. Piston tops look real good, cylinder head looked better than a lot of pictures seen on this forum. No visible cracks, but someone suggested magaflux head and check for being warped.. There is no water in the oil. trace rust around (if looking at motor from rear, cyclinder all the way at left assuming #1 but if counting from water pump side to flywheel/drive belt pulley #4) What would you suggest and recommend action at this point?. Your advice would be greatly appreciated. just would like some direction while have this motor apart to see if I need to check further into motor before just possibly going with head gasket change along with other gaskets needed since parts removed. would tiny coolant leak cool the cumbustion down causing white smoke hence the sweet smell along with diesel smell?
