The flat track is coming along and the guy helping me is putting time in although he's usually late. I own the track but nobody seems to think they should talk to me before planning anything at the track. The president of the club posted about a race on June 8/9 that was talked about previously. When the guy helping me finally got a hold of him a couple weeks ago to ask about the race, the guy lies and said he went out 3 weeks ago when parts of the city got 4" of snow and the track was a foot under water. BS, I was working on the track and it didn't get any snow. Flat track Canada set a school for June 14/15 but never even contacted me to check the date or let me know. The pres. of the club and a friend came out to try the track on Sunday and gave some good feedback. The corners were a little choppy and needed some smoothing off but otherwise he really liked it. We were planning to have the grand opening on June 9 instead of the race and have hot dogs and pop and no charge to try the track out. Pres. says it can't be free, you put a lot of money into it. Then says maybe hold off until the school and you can get the corners fixed. OK, gives us a little more time to get things ready. It looks Like I can hire the county grader next week, perfect.

Had to fix a leak on the Cat and am going to haul sand for the corner run offs this week. Come home and check and my e-mails and the pres. sent out a mass e-mail saying the track is open for this weekend (June 8/9), $40 and all tires including knobbies are welcome. Didn't consult with me or the guy helping me at all but did get a text a grader was coming next week. We figured having the grand opening the next weekend would give another week to get the track in optimum shape. Is there a polite way to tell people to *&^%$#! off and they need to check with ME first before THEY decide how I should run my track? The e-mail from this club pres. was way out of line to say the least.

Try humor...………….Call him up and say "Hey, with all this miscommunication, its reminding me of being home with the wife. SO......how bout us discussing things better so I don't feel like I'm getting married again!"

I would agree with vetech, is this perhaps your partner's other half getting involved again?
How does this club president figure in? I haven't seen mention of this fella, yet? Do you have any obligation to this person? How does your partner feel about this, now that he's taking an active role? Maybe both of you could approach him. Tell him to slow his roll a bit.
Good luck. Hope this all shakes out as well.

Thanks for the input.
Partners wife isn't involved. She thinks it's asinine too. Of course my partner wants me to respond since it's my track. Fair enough but I thought he was supposed to be the club contact. He doesn't really see eye to eye with the club pres. and they kind of clash. Would have been nice to know this in the beginning. On Sunday when the club pres. was out he didn't greet him when he showed up or thank him when he left. He did talk to him a little but was being the hero driving the tractor. I couldn't do anything because I had a leak to fix. I told him he should have talked to the pres. before he left and he said "I'm busy and have a lot of work to do". He doesn't think much of the pres. but sucks up to him when he's around. When there's a conflict, it's your track and you need to talk to him.

The club pres. is a major owner in about 5 dealerships and is a control freak. My other half thinks it's because he's used to being a boss he thinks he's in charge of everything else as well. I agree with this. He's all about himself. Flat Track Canada is all for the track and I think with them it's just a matter of consulting with me on what their plans are. It would be great to have the local club involved but if the pres. of the club is trying to dictate how the track is run and doing things without consulting me, maybe a new club with an actual home track is in order. They talked about bringing their water truck and some other equipment out but if he thinks this gives him free reign to do whatever HE wants, we don't want it. It would be like me saying his dealership is bringing out the new bikes to try out and not talking to him first. In his e-mail he puts "send me (him) your questions". He also put "for now all tires are welcome so the track surface will hold up to knobbies". Knobby MX tires on a 450 would destroy the track and dig it up way too much causing deep ruts. What a waste for all the work we did. Is he trying to sabotage the track because it isn't his? I have enough things to worry about and am not going to put up with this crap. Good or bad the track has to be run my way but I am certainly open to suggestions and feedback to make it a success.

who collects and gets the $40 … Sounds like the money will be needed to repair the track surface. Money is the heart of many conflicts.

I get the $40 and I have the county grader coming out that charges about $100/hr. so not a big expense. Posting this without even consulting with me is totally disrespectful! I can't have any practices until I have the sand traps and some kind of spectator fence up. I would lose my insurance.

I'd be pretty tempted to lock the gate this weekend, "Track is closed" sign on the gate. Then email the pres the question "We agreed to next weekend, didn't we?"
