that cabover has short bars = heavy duty, the conventional has long bars = xtra crappy. long bars angle inward toward front , shortbars parallel the frame. my dad almost got the short bars on his 74 kw, changed his mind last minute got rubber block (walking beam)

Would have rather had the Hendrickson on the 80 KW, better yet eight bag air ride but those were problematic when first came out with multiple ride height control valves but in ANY respect better than torsion ride. Had another truck was looking at then, my partner convinced me to not go for a 81 8664 Frt Lnr with a cummins 13 spd and air ride, STILL kick myself when think on what COULD have been. Was also $12k higher price

Actually KW torsion was every where but mainly fleets bought it because KW was selling it cheap verses other aftermarket at the time. They would low ball it on a fleet
specification sale. But it was crap, agreed Petepilot that kw has four strikes against it. Same problem with this kw plus it had a detroit.

I got 2 cylinders put together finely and i put them on but the pump has a problem so back to the portapower.I was going tp pull the pump off but i only took the tools i needed to put the cylinders back on. Tomorrow i will try the portapower to raise the cab with the comealong to hold it back. There must be a check valve stuck in the pump.

Now that is an oddity of the days gone by.
I had a '74 Chevy 65 line truck with a Coleman front axle, except for the clamp wheels it looked pretty similar. Talk about herding a truck down the road. Even with only 24k miles on the clock it was THE worst driving thing I ever saw.

I got the cab up fare enough to work on it. It is bad. I freed up the kill cable and pulled the passenger side valve cover. 2 injecters were stuck i pulled them and heated them to about 200 and taped on them to free them. I pulled the other valve cover and all 3 were stuck. The front cylinder back bridge had so much slack between the rocker about a 1/4"that it was side ways and its not the valves. then i could see the plunger on that cylinder had been rotating the bottom were the pin keeps it from turning or comeing out had broken some time ago.Its funny but i bet the last time i had it started years ago it was like this because it was only driven 25 miles after that. I planed to start it and sell but now?

This, boys and girls is why we don't let 2 stroke Detroits sit.
Doug, your bridge that turned is because the valves are stuck. It doesn't look like it because the piston taps them back up, spray the crap out of the stems with PB blaster and tap the top with a small hammer and a hard plastic rod to free them up.

I've unstuck many Detroits that stuck injectors and valves from sitting, never pulled an injector. Again, PB blaster and the nylon rod. Spray it on the plunger and rack and tap.
The broken retainer pin may require replacing that injector and it's a good possibility that's a result of a stuck plunger that popped loose while cranking.
