2005 CAT00305CD5A00392 with K4N engine. Engine shutdown solenoid energized constantly. if I disconnect either wire at engine shut off solenoid engine starts and runs as expected. with key on or off i reconnect wire at solenoid, the engine shuts down. I have probed around and the 20 amp fuse circuit described to be for the "Dome light and Radio" in the maintenance manual. That circuit description doesn't seem like it should have control over the engine shut off solenoid??? If i pull that fuse the engine shut off solenoid is denergized.

I probed around to the "Timer AS 119-9896" and "control AS-Timer 175-4621". the control AS timer has a constant hot red, key hot white and a ground coming in (wire colors are the machine wiring colors) and a: constant 12V pink wire that upon connecting actuates the shutoff solenoid regardless of key position. Can I diagnose the Control AS Timer as failed???

Possibly connected issue is the throttle actuator does not function, I have control of throttle manually. What are the specifications for "resistance sweep" of engine speed dial?
The throttle control cable was pulled tight stuck at wide open. I disconnected throttle linkage cable at engine. The "Motor AS Governor actuator 215-3347" has one 5V key hot and 3 wires that have resistance that spikes when I reconnect the above described, potentially failed, Control As timer 175-4621.

This machine sat for a couple years under a cedar tree. It had many deferred maintenance issues and hydraulic functions that were troubled. I drained and flushed coolant, drained and flushed/cleaned hydraulic and diesel tanks, all new fluids and filters (except the pilot filter WHAT is Periodicity for that change out i feel the pilot functions on this machine are a little slow, should i change that pilot filer?) I cleaned return screen in tank and it very little visible debris. Hour meter says 1980 hours with surprisingly tight original pins/bushings/undercarriage. Key switch and throttle dial were very corroded and difficult to operate, i used penetrating oil and freed them up. I have a parts manual and an operation and maintenance manual. I would really like any remaining publications available for this machine.

ANY help is appreciated Thanks!

Are you sure on that model number? Or is this a "grey market" machine. I tried a few different ideas but not having any luck in SIS

G..G..G..Granville.........!! Fetch your cloth.
Ken - try 305 DSA prefix. OP is reading the "S" in the prefix as a "5".

To the OP. Start a conversation with either KSH or myself with an email address. Either of us can get you the Electrical Schematic and send it by email.

For a complete Service Manual you need to be looking for Cat Publication RENR5530.

From my original post:

should I troubleshoot throttle control first or could the shutdown be a symptom created by governor system potential failure?

Could i convert the throttle control cable to a manual cable operator without causing other issues?
