we have an old scraper that we use around our farm for various earth moving tasks. We have no clue on the brand but what we know is that it is the same as a Cat 60 but it is not a Cat 60. It was originally cable driven but has been converted to hydraulic. I was wonder if anybody knew the brand of it or if they can point me in the right direction to finding out who made it

LeTourneau, LaPlant-Choate, Austin Western, Garwood and Baker all made them in the day, will be others I have long forgotten. All in the end bought up conglomerated to major manufacturers or went out of business. Should be some kind of data plate somewhere on it. Most were on the necks or at the absolute rear of the pan structure.

If it's originally a Cat 60, it should use Cat 60 parts. The conversion company should have marked/plated it somewhere on the machine. Or it may have been converted by a small shop that didn't mark it. In that case a local machine shop can make you new parts if that's the question.

Can you post some pictures? As stated there was many manufactures of cable pans, some small and obscure. They are a few companies that convert them to hydraulic. That being said, I can not think of any other common cable scrapers that closely resembled a Cat pull scraper. Might have been a small company that Cat told to cease and desist. They have always closely guarded their product line.

will a 96 D4H series 3 105HP pull a Cat 60
There's a youtube Vid that's just come out "Wheels at Wanaka". In that I'm sure there was an old D6 pulling a #60 scraper so as long as your tractor weight is similar I'm sure it will work. The above mentioned video is about 1 hour long so you'll have to scroll through to the earthmovers section.
