i have a hitachi zx120 machine. Pretty sure it gray market as a lot of things are in Japanese.
My machine name plate actually list it as a ZX120-E.
Is there any difference between the zx120 and the zx120-e? The dealer constantly asks me if it’s a zx120-3.
I’ve gotten a few pars from the dealer that weren’t correct so that’s why I’m asking.

Is there anyway to run there serial number and verify the year?

Also cross check the same year JD 490E
Ex 120-2&3 were the same as the 490E except for the engine and 90% or more parts interchanged. The ZX120 is still somewhat the same as the Deere 120C but many parts that one would think should be the same are different. For instance, same hyd. pump in each but different hoses to the control valve.
