Well that,s not a good start, but it sort of show,s whats going on at Cat really.Never heard of wrong pistons before.Feeling this thing is only going to be good for so many thousand hours (hope its thousands)and then it will either need major things replaced or on the float to the dump. Not alot of faith in Cat anymore, making light weight disposable crap the last 10 or more years

You know i reckon if Cat were to make a 100 new 660,s they would sell them all world wide as long as the price wasnt too out there. You can see lots of dirt getting shifted by the minute almost with these huge buggies.Around alot of the Cities in Australia now its getting like California built up from the coast to the hills so theres big hills to move to expand the suburbs, industrial areas etc,the 660 is perfect.

Ah, Cat would stick electronic B$ on them, then they'd be plagued with fault code ghosts like all new stuff. From the video, looks like a bit more wheel spin going on. Cummins maybe develops a more torque at lower revs.

Hey squid,
15 liter QSX15 Tier4 Final/Stage lV
450-675Hp / 336-503kW
1650-2050lb ft / 2237-2779Nm
I'll guess 550Hp rating same as D346 V8 Cat originally installed.
https://www.cummins.com/engines/qsx15-tier-4-finalstage-iv

If Cat manufactured new 660s, transmission would be electronically-hydraulically shifted via ECM talking to the engine's ECM. Advantageous to lower torque-Hp gears 1-2 to help prevent wheel spin. B-model 8 speed's flyweight hydraulic governor is dependent on travel speed-pressure, i.e. operates independent from the engine. Simple, but the operators have to have a very light foot loading and leaving the cut.

Take care

To keep things totally fair... Can we get some new old style Euclids with 44 yard bowls and 16V71's too? :)

Im thinking 660 would spin wheels easier than the newer ones like a 57?
Having never had the pleasure of operating one i dont know.
I do know those big 6 cyl cummins have got some grunt even the older ones like the k19 i think it was that Piacentini,s put it one of the 33s they rebuilt. That thing was full on from go to whoa.

Forgot to say i agree RZucker some new big twin bowl 3 engined Euclids would be good.It surprises me that those big beauties in Murls Video which im guessing late 50s early 60s arent produced today there would be plenty of projects for them.
Scrapers have gotten smaller over the years they were huge mothers back then.

Can see 51B and 51Es with elevators as well as just plain normal 51Es.Few auger jobs which are real good in the sand.I know they have 57s with twin augers in them.
The 31G is one of 6 i believe they got from Queensland and are going to put the front bit on a couple 39s and maybe some 33s.
The arseends you can see i think are bits that were no good when they fully rebuilt the 3 that ive mentioned and shown pics of not long ago.I will get this pic downloading right one day too, dont know how they turned out like this.If you want a close up look use 2 fingers to spread the photo.
