Terex PT30 experiences?

Hi

I'm looking into buying an skid steer for my small company, I'm doing most work with drainage and stuff like that, but the town I live in the houses are close and not much room so I always need to get dirt away from the work site since it's not enough room to only swing around with the excavator and dump it.

To day I use tracked mini dumpers and move the dirt to the road and after load it to the truck with the excavator, but then I move the same dirt 2 times and it cost time.
So I'm thinking about buying an Terex PT 30 tracked skid steer and use that instead of the tracked minidumper, and than I can dump the dirt right in the truck with the skid steer.
I have an small truck so the Terex PT30 with tipped bucked is just clearing the side of the truck, I have no way to test the skid steer becaus it's in the other side of the country and here in Norway I never seen an skid steer in use.

But I see them in videos on youtube and they look like an time saving machine in many ways, but since there is few of them in Norway they are hard to find with tracks and used like I want to buy it, so right now it's only an Terex PT30 fore sale used.
Any one got ant experience with them?
And the reason for I want an tracked skid steer is that it's also steep around the houses.

I Have an ASV RC-30. Absolutely love it! Its like a swiss army knife on tracks, just hook to an attachment, and go. Doesn't have much of a lift height, or lift capacity, but it picks up a bucket fulla dirt, just fine! Also, it don't tear up the ground, like a wheeled loader. All things considered, when terex bought the company, they ran it to sh!t, but ASV bought itself back out of that hole, last year, and parts availability and delivery are considerably improved, since last year. If you have any specific questions, ask away, Be glad to help, if possible...;)

What is the hight work the bucket tipped on yours?
The truck I have i need to clear 195cm of height to load the truck.

I'm also thinking about using it for clearing snow in the winter in my driveway, but than I need to attach an snowblower to it.

I'll check the brochure I have on it, and get back to you, tonight, if I remember...;)

Found this on line, this AM, maybe the old machine I have and this one are similar enough, for your purposes, I don't think they have changed anything, significantly...

Looks close to your needs. I have built dirt ramps, before to load roll off dumpsters, on some jobs. Still less work, than double handling dirt...;)

I've never seen one up close, but I would guess it has some of the advantages of a walk behind skidsteer (small footprint, easy to fit into tight quarters), with some of the advantages of a full sized skidsteer (more lift capacity in relation to machine weight, ROPS, less operator fatigue).

I did talk at length with a guy that has an RC50 and said that even though it's a great little machine, the maintenance on it is a little more often than his other machines. He's had all of the possible undercarriage problems and repairs, and has modded as needed (grease adjusters instead of the stock screw type, and all metal bogie and idler wheels when they need to be replaced instead of the stock rubber ones).

I was looking hard at the PT/RC30 for some time, and decided for my needs it just wasn't big enough, but I bet for shuttling stone or doing a lot of residential in sub-divisions it's a great sized machine.

That's actually something I heard on an review on youtube that the cost of maintenance was greater on this type of undercarriage but it made up for it in ride comfort.
But there is a lot of wheels so I guess an bearing change on that one would be expensive and time consuming.

I asked him about that actually, and he said after a few of them (and the aftermarket wheels) he was able to find a generic NAPA bearing that he could use as a replacement and pick up in any store.

I haven't had much problems, with the UC, since I drilled and welded a nut, in the centers of the dust caps, then screwed in a grease zerk, into each dust cap...;)

Ok that's probably an good idea, I se mye tracked minidumper in my pictures have grease zerks in the rollers and they are probably from the factory and it's an 98 model I think and now when i checked only one roller had bad bearings.

I hadda open my mouth, and say things were goin well with the RV30...

Went out to do a little landscrapin, had the lil rubber track loader, 4n1 bucket, land plane and Harley rake, loaded up last night, hooked up to the 4n1, gave it a tap on the button on the joystick, heard the familiar hiss of hyd fluid escapin, at a high rate of speed... Nudder trip home, to gets the tooth bucket, and drop the leaky sob at the shop. Oh well, there's anudder hour I aint gettin paid fer!

As I was finishin up with the harley rake, noticed one of the gauge wheels(non pneumatic) had bad UV cancer and aint far from droppin offa the rim...

Got home 4 hrs later, et lunch and hadda look at the bucket. Coulda been just a loose fittin, but I hadda new hose made up, anyway. Now I gots ta remember what size wheels the rake takes, and see if I can find a set of good solid rims and tires. Coulda been worse, coulda been rainin...

Ouch never fun spending time fixing stuff when you have work waiting.

I found out the PT30 is a little bit to small for me, one of my plans was using it for clearing snow at home also, instead of the tractor, but it looks like there isent any snowblower that will fit this model.
It only delivers 8gpm and the snowblowers that are in the right width for this machine demands from 11gpm, so than my plan wont work.

But thanks for the help, there are no other used skid steer with tracks on the marked in Norway so I have to wait than.

I built my own SB, took a 3point hitch 4' wide ford SB, Unbolted the gearbox, reversed the mounting, welded an attachment plate on, bought a take-off hyd motor sized to the flow and pressure, use a chain drive to the blower. total cost was less than $700 bucks, if I recall right.

Today I attacked the rotten solid tires on the Harley rake. Had 4 wagon wheels offa one of them cheap Chinese nursery wagons, that I bought at auction, $20/4. Exact same tire as was on the HR, when I bought it new. only took 20 minutes, to swap them out, and cost me no new money, so maybe things are lookin up!;)
