Still hunting for Grizzly's...I found a 10 year old add for truck #3.I have not found this truck yet just some old stories.Add says it is truck # 3 and owned by Pete Cahill in Campbell River..Add was posted by someone else on a sport fishing forum. It would appear he was pretty serious about the trucks at one point.Does any one know him or know of him..

Quote....
I had coffee with Pete a few days back and looked at some of what he has onhand.
He's got pretty good records of who has what truck and where they are plus a bunch of spare parts. And I mean a bunch, body, frame, drivelines, etc. etc.
He was thinking of getting into the manufacture of them after the demise of Geoff Buck, the originator of the idea for the truck and one of the principals of the company, so he tracked down most of what was available after the company folded and bought it.
He's asking less than 30K for his truck only, just to clear that up a bit. Probably 30K plus for everything.
Any entrepeneurs out there?

It might be from the same fishing forum you were reading but I have an email address and phone number for Pete Cahill if you don’t have them.

I got my tach back from Autometer the other day...I shipped it off 3 weeks ago and then never heard from them.Tach is about 3 years old and has never worked.Lots of e-mails to there techs but failed to get it to work...Anyways they sent me a new tach.So hats off to Autometer for standing behind their products.I assume what ever was wrong with it was bad as they never questioned anything and the warranty was long over...I reinstalled it today and all is good..I also installed some LED indicator lights to tell me the I have the heated mirrors on(or forgot to turn them off) and that the exhaust brake is on.
Busy day in the heat.....

That was me trying to help Pete sell his stuff back in 2008.

He must have sold it all but I have no idea to whom or when and I don't live near him like I used to.

Not even sure he's with us still as I recall him being in the hospital and apparently in bad shape back then, although I believe he recovered. I also want to recall he moved down Island back then also, for health reasons.

Talked with Tom Turner just now and he can't confirm one way or the other either regarding Pete's state.

Not much info I'm afraid.

Take care.

Dave....do you happen to remember what color the truck was...My research makes me think the 3rd truck built was Gray....but it would appear my truck was not included in the numbering system as it was never meant to be sold, So the second truck built was actually the first one sold to the public and tagged truck #1...

So......If he had truck number 3 it would have been the fourth one built...I am still trying to piece this all together and compile info.....

I think I just confused myself......

Small engineering mistake on my part.I completely underestimated the forces on the front sway bar links.I had to extend them to fit the truck. The bends were already in them but I clearly used the wrong material to extend them. They have both buckled...
I will start drawing new ones up tomorrow and show this to my engineer friend and see what he comes up with...grizzly 003 (31).JPG grizzly 002 (145).JPG grizzly 001 (141).JPG

Can't recall colour for sure and tried to contact Tom earlier but no answer. He might recall. Weird that I can't recall it considering the number of times I saw it. I want to say blue or a darker colour but not sure enough to claim it as so.

I'll try to find out.

Take care.

So I just talked with Tom and he recalls Pete's truck as being blue also, so that's our answer.

Have you ever talked with Art Bowbrick from Sayward? He has or had a Grizzly and was very conversant about them. Might be a wealth of info.

Give him a call and chat him up a bit. His number is in the book so I won't expose it here.

Good luck.

Take care.

I forgot the bars are offset in 2 directions so as a short term repair I welded a 3/16 gusset on them.I will re address this later and find some 4140 material..My shop is packed (3 big block mustangs) again with zero room to build anything...Don't know what kind of steel Ford used 50 years ago but it wasn't all together happy about being tig welded..grizzly 003.JPG

A&W in Haney had its first car show tonight.I took the truck there(10 min drive) so people could just have a casual look at it.Way bigger turn out than I expected..Lots of nice cars and I met some nice people...My friend brought his 1940 Cab over....

Fueled the truck up again today...Currently getting 21mpg....

I’ve made a lot of progress since my last post but not much picture worthy. Most of the work has gone in to getting systems working again and getting the frame behind where the fuel tanks go cleaned and painted.
Today I was finally able to start reassembling. New tank selector and return line valves are installed as well as a new fuel lines to the water separator and a new return line. The engine driven lift pump started leaking a couple of days ago so I’ll be replacing that this weekend along with reinstalling the fuel tanks.
