For some people driving the Going To The Sun Road in Glacier Park will just about make them wet their pants, Heckman definitely would. A road not many people travel
is Highway 36 from Red Bluff, Ca. to Fortuna on the coast. Not many miles but a bunch of time to cross it, right angle turns at the top of hills. The other road that's a
dandy is the paved Forest Service road from Joseph, Or to Ox Bow dam on the Snake River, 88 miles long but it takes about three hours. As you come out of a turn
you are headed back into a turn. I have traveled both Highway 36 and the road to Ox Bow twice by Goldwings.

I went over "Going to the Sun" back in '96 with my Dodge/Cummins dually and a 32' 5th wheel camp trailer. Not too bad as long as the trailer brakes are adjusted properly and you don't let idiots in cars push you. We went over just after it was opened for the year. The kids thought the Anti freeze restrooms at the summit were weird, the Blue flush. :)

Did US 550 at first of June still had snow on shoulders on a 2003 Road King, did Tail of the Dragon same bike as well the Smokey Mountains NP road and Cherohola Skyway from the Park into Tellico. Rides I enjoyed but have no desire to repeat. Getting to Pagosa Spring on that first noted was rough crossing Wolf Creek Pass while snowing, wife was NOT happy on two wheels.

Been there done that but with a screamin 8V92 K100C dragging plate steel up the pass. 5Th too high 4Th loo low so hang in fourth and let her scream.
I used to run I-90 east over Ryegrass and Snoqualmie with "James" my old GMC 9500 with a bare 318 with no Jakes... Screaming going up, and screaming going down. The guy that bought it off me put a natural 8V92 in it with jakes. I think he had about 370-380 HP?

Been over 550 and Red Mountain Summit into Silverton many times. Ouray and Silverton are destinations for us. Always in the Dodge. From Ouray up to the Riverside slide snow shed just always has me on the edge of my seat. In the winter, at least the rock fall slows down a little. It's narrow no rails and people are nervous. I followed a guy up in a tanker one day... and it wasn't his first trip. Went up there like he was on a railroad track which requires a little fog line surfing to keep the trailer out of the down hill traffic and there is no real 550.jpg Red Mountain.jpg estate outside the fog line. He's a good hand.550.jpg

I had two 56 Ford pickups in high school don't want anymore of those.
I had a 55, a 56, and a 57. All short boxes and 272 engines. All of them had 3 on the tree transmissions. The '55 was the nicest with only 33,000 original miles, but it was an old dryland wheat farmer truck with dents and normal farm use. The 6 volt electrical system sucked too.
The '56 got sold for good money, the '57 was a daily driver for several years going to and from work until some guy at a minimart offered up stupid money for it and a ride home. :)
