I believe the year and serial number prefix went like this :

Prefix S790 for 2000 - 2005
Prefix S853 2005 - 2007
Prefix S914 2007 to 2010

It could be wrong, so please correct me if you have better information available.

Impressive! I'm guessing you have more as you get time. Ours is S7901099- 2003? I'll be interested to see the build numbers as the years went on backing up why production was halted. Do you suppose all the weld jigs were scrapped, or were warehoused somewhere so if an interested party wanted to buy the rights, production could be restarted?

This is all I had available as of right now for the TS14G. I do have all the ship dates of all the older models, dating back to the 60's. Some in service dates are available, but its kinda scattered.

I would think that the Manufacturing Jigs are still somewhere in Terex land. When they sold off the other divisions back in 2013/2014 they didn't sell off the scraper line, and I haven't heard of them selling off the scraper line since.

I don't think they will be releasing a Terex scraper ever again. They don't seem to be focused on moving dirt anymore.
They don't have rock trucks (Volvo bought that), and they don't appear to offer larger wheel loaders or large excavators anymore (those were just re-branded anyways)

Probably not a big market to sell the jigs and blueprints of the scrapers. I've heard Cat doesn't even build scrapers every year, due to low demand. Not really much for choices in the scraper market now days.

So, like the school hooker, passed around by everyone, Terex has gotten tired and uninspired.

It's going to take new energy and deep pockets to make the TS14 line go again. It would be nice if new units were custom built every 3-5 years as orders accumulated. A TS14 twin engine scraper is in a niche market.

It is my personal opinion there is room for a business to referbish older machines on contract or for resale. These machines are rebuildable, just like airplanes. Now can rebuilding be profitable? That's the real question.

Take them down to bare metal and bring them back up adding improvements to make them better than when they first rolled off the assembly line. These machines have been in the field long enough, most are in pretty rough shape if you look closely.

Improvements like better wiring harnesses, integrated GPS, different cab with active seat/climate control, suspended front axle, PFC hydraulics, newer engines for the green ones, better coolers, autoshift transmissions, etc.

There was a company named "Newco" that tried that with TS-14's, It didn't last long. They really did some quality work too. GM tilt wheel columns, etc. I don't think they could compete with the bazillion used machines out there that were easy to make good runners from.

The quantity of used machines on the market is different now. I'd assume Newco got taken out by the recession. All used machines now have lurking problems hidden by the animosity of auctions(and fresh paint).

The only way I could envision it working is to buy quality replacement parts at less than retail price(or make them). The work will have to be excellent as warranty claims will eat up profits. And your going to need a crew that cares about their work.

I'm disgusted with our throw away society/business culture.

The rebuilding Idea is "pie in the sky". Why would you take a functioning $10K machine and make it into a $250K machine with less reliability? Ok, I can see emissions compliance but not much less.
Most of my Euclid/Terex experience is with late 60's early 70's TS 24's, I have run them against $900K 637 cats and ate them for lunch with out a pusher. Yes i'm old school but those were simple machines and cheap to run.
$900K will buy a lot of TS-24's.

Rebuilding idea has some merit to it, as long as its a improvement over the existing product.

Is there actually any competition in the scraper market right now?
International, Michigan, Hancock, Wabco, Deere, and Terex all left the scraper market (to the best of my knowledge)

Does anyone still make a self propelled scraper other than Cat? It seems to me the pull tractor and scraper is the way a lot of companies are going. (K-tec and similar brands)

I never thought a rock truck should be pulling a scraper. Seems like it would be terribly hard on the transmission.

I view the rock trucks pulling scrapers the same as the farm tractors pulling them, your asking machine components to perform in ways they weren't designed to for. Longevity suffers. Farm tractors in a scraper environment have major component failures by 5-6K hours. Scrap by 9K hours.

Additionally for any kind of pull scraper, it takes a minimum amount of real estate to get straightened out for the cuts and turn around in. Small self propelled scrapers are perfect for the smaller jobsites. In our case, we may have another phase of a housing development only big enough for 15 houses. The area is competitive enough you may not get the next phase, so why move dirt for someone else ahead of time.
