tach not working

i have a 1979 international with a dt466 and yesterday the tach quit working does anybody know what would cause this and if so how do i fix it

did 79's use elect tach? if so check sensor in bellhousing. it looks like a piece of threaded bolt with 2 wires comming out the top. if mech. tach. check cable, or tach itself could be bad. are there alot of hours on it? tachs. do go bad.

I just replaced the tach cable on my '85 Ford 9000. You just have to trace the problem. Not necessarly fun, but not hard either.

thanks for the advice when it comes to working on my own truck i need all the help i can get i dont know a whole lot and i cant afford to pay to get it done
