Anyone have any experience with the new 2050M? Anyone heard anything about it?

All I know is what I have read. It uses the 6.7 liter engine where as the other dozers in that class use 9 liter engines. I have ran Cat and Komatsu both are 9 liter class at 200 hp , and there are times they seem lite on power. But I have no seat time so this is only an opinion.

Have a few of these in my area. They are fairly new. Case is disassembling the one for inspection (to find out where any issues are after 4000hrs) Its hydrostatic, so 214hp is more than enough. The operators all say it has lots of pushing power. Its still got some of the new model bugs, and the cab doesn't tilt.

So I’ve bought three 2050s in the past 2 months and have been quite pleased with their performance. We own (2) Deere 850Ks and (2) Cat D6Ts. The Cases are doing fine against these competitors.

I tested a 2050 vpat the other day. My opinion was they were underweight for the power. Spinning the track was too easy. After much discussion with the salesman, we decided it was closer to a 6N class. It doesn't have the weight of a T.
The other thing I would say is, and I am just guessing here, the track speed is mostly independent of load. Its kinda like you set the track speed at 2 mph and that's what you get, regardless of load. Tracks go 2 mph whether you are moving or not. For me, I am used to a TC tranny, where you can expect the tracks to slow and bear down under load.

I have heard the D7E runs the undercarriage off because it is constantly spinning, and I would imagine the 2050 would be the same. Maybe practice would help. If all you are doing is trimming parking lots and lawns, it would likely be awesome.

Otherwise great dozer I think, and great value too.

I had the opportunity to run one out at Tomahawk last November.
It’s a really pretty machine and with my limited dozer experience it really seemed like a great option.
I agree with the above comment that it’s got plenty of power but not enough ass and it’s really more of a D6n than a D6t.
I work for a CASE distributor out here on the west coast and I know CASE is eager to establish a bigger presence in the Dozer market. Which means they are willing to make a very attractive deal on these machines because they want more of them out working and being seen.

As a side note, take a look at the 850M it’s a bitching machine for finish work.

I have one of the early ones. Have full auto Trimble control. I like the hydro, second hydro machine I've had. It is different than the older hydros to get it to lug. Plenty of power. Early ones chucked motors because of a grounding issue (story I got, all under warranty and they scrambled to get the grounds fixed on a bunch in my area). Seems to be easy on fuel, undercarriage is holding well.

We are not a big dozer area, but the guys running the M are impressed so far.

I disagree with comparing the 2050M to the Cat 6N instead of the CatD6T. The 2050M has plenty of power and will can stay with Deere’s 850K and challenge Cat’s D6T but not beat it. But, I do agree there is a power to weight problem on the 2050M and if you don’t get rippers to increase the machine weight you will spin the tracks while working and it will feal too light. With rippers it balances better.
