Mine is a 2011 (sold new in 2012) and has the servo/pilot controls same as the new ones at CEA.
I too have read that you can operate them with the seat at 45 degrees but that doesn't work on my machine. The seat has to be fully forward or fully rearward.
You can override the controls and drive the machine while facing backwards (or operate the excavator while facing forwards) but not at the same time as you can on the older non-pilot series so there are advantages to both models.
I hope you can find a good machine. I wouldn't be without mine and I don't know why they are not more popular.
