Turn Signal and Hazard light problems

Hello all new to the forum and also new to the backhoe machines. I bought a 2000 JD 410E wheeled backhoe loader and Im just trying to make things work right like wiper motors and lights everything else seems to be working like it should. Just needs to clean off a lot of older grease at the joints and zerks and re grease.
Where I need the help is with the turn signals and hazard lights. Here is what I did and what happened. There is a NON OEM relay in there now (which I was thinking is bad) so with that when I turn the turn switch to right or left nothing happens (no lights) I turn the hazard switch on and nothing happens (no lights) But when I turn the hazard switch on and turn the turn signal switch to the right the left yellow lights turn on solid (front and back) but no blinking. So with the I switched the turn signal to the left thinking the right side lights would turn on at least solid also but nothing. So I went to the auto parts store and picked up a new same size relay that is already there and put it in and the same thing happened. So where would I look or go from here?
Does JD make different relays so you only could use there stuff with there stuff? Or am I missing something?
I can put new bulbs in the right side just to make sure that isnt way the right side dosnt light up. But break lights work and head lights and hoe lights all work.
Please if you guys have any ideas please do let me know.
Thank you in advanced.

I would check to see if it has flashers and if they are bad. I am not familiar with the 410E's. Hopefully someone will chime in that is.

Flasher? Isnt that what the relay does? On the diagrams I have looked at there isnt any flashers that I saw. One diagram had diodes.

Should be a flasher. They look like a relay but a little larger. Chase the wires from the turn signal switch and you should find it. Good luck.

S21 isnt the relay? Cause that is what I tried changing and the same thing happened. Unless it has to be a john deere one. Because I just went to the auto parts store and got a flasher relay.

They make those flashers in 2 prong and 3 prong. I am not sure which one the machine uses. But if the one you picked up was 2 prong I would change it out for a 3 and try that. Sometimes the circuits are wired to where the right and left are independant circuits.

Not sure if it’s pertinent but when when your have the hazard lights selected on our Deere grader and then you use the turn signal the opposing light stops flashing and remains steadily illuminated until you cancel the signal.

Quite slick if you ask me.

No when the flashers are selected nothing lights up. Once I leave that switch on and select the right turn signal the left side frint and back yellow light come on solid and the left turn symbol on the switch itself lights up green. When I select the left turn nothing happens inside or out. They dont flash at all.

I did have a 3 prong in there already and I picked up a new 3 prong relay and same thing happens. I dont mind picking up a 2 prong for another $15 (which the other one I bought already was) but if the john deere OEM is only $30 I would just get that one as long as I knew that would fix the problem. There is one on ebay new old stock for $30 so I would get that one. I also tried to see if it was a 2 or 3 prong but its hard to tell from the picture. It does look like a 3 prong.

And that is the right part number.

Is there a way I can test the socket without spending anymore money? If there is I would check it and if everything works then I would just get the JD OEM part.

Make sure all your grounds and bulbs are good. Bad grounds or one bad bulb can make your lights to funny things.

G..G..G..Granville.........!! Fetch your cloth.
And not necessarily just the turn signal lamps either. I was following someone the other day and whenever they hit the brakes with the turn signal blinking the brake light on that side came on but the turn signal quit blinking and went dim. Most likely a ground fault in the brake light.

Sorry. We do not have a 410E.That pic is out of a manual for it tho.its just 1 we had on the shelf.reread your post and the solid lights coming on opposite of turn signal direction is completely normal. Its the way Deere and maybe others have done it for years and even to this day on the ag side of things.Opposite stays solid whilst direction intending to turn blinks.if you can see three contacts under flasher I would definitely replace it with a three prong.jdparts shows it as a T215293.Doubt that it has to be from JD tho.The flasher diodes are in behind the steering column.might wanna check it.Its no.7 on parts page

Well good news guys It was the relay. The auto parts store one didnt not work so I went to JD and bought the one that the machine calls for. So now the hazards work. But I did also find out the signal switch isnt good either because the left turn lights blinked but right side didnt (but I heard the clicking noise like it was working) so taking the switch apart and using a wire to connect the different connections made the right turn lights come on and blink. So I will getting a new switch tomorrow if they have it in stock.

Thanks again for all your help and suggestions.
I will be hanging around and reading up on some threads.

Glad you posted this.I bought a 310SE recently and am seeing the same thing you mention. My hazard switch is bad so I hardwired the plug to the on position. No lights. However, when turning the signal light on while the hazard lights are on, opposite side lights solid (no blinking). I've ordered the flasher relay from Deere. Should be getting it soon. Hope that fixes my problem too. Those switches aren't cheap! I'm trying to find an alternate double pole switch for the hazard lights switch.

Picked up my hazard switch relay at lunch. Hardwired my hazard plug on. Plugged in relay. Turn key over to ACC. I hear the relay clicking to a rhythm. My signal switch light was blinking. Looked up and my ambers were all blinking. Signal switch works as well. Same as DB2 mentioned above.
