I'm going to wind a new haulback on our 155 grapple yarder on Monday. Tuesday we are going to move it to the project and was curious if anybody had any tips or tricks for a grapple yarding newbie like myself. Any help would be appreciated thank you in advance.

Start slow and keep slow for a long while to help avoid line wrap. Have a yarder operator and spotter that don't hate each other (though they probably soon will) and shorten up one side of the grapple chains with a rigging shackle to get one tyne to hang lower than the other.

Anybody here know how to rig up a grapple setup? Nobody on our crew has ever grapple yarded before and I'm having a new haulback delivered in the morning and going to need to thread the grapples tomorrow so we can start logging.
