Still gotta know the machine s/n, Genie has been making the S-60 for a whole bunch of years and they've changed considerably over those years

Check your alternator, coolant level and engine oil. If the machine senses any engine fault it won't run for more then a couple seconds. Alternator and low coolant are most common. Low engine oil will do it as well.

You have an Ignition start Module (ISM) inside the ground control Box that is responsible for keeping the engine running
You can bypass the ISM's control by jumping power to terminal 21 on the main terminal strip.
If the engine stays running:
-1-Oil pressure or oil temp switch is grounding ISM terminal 10
-2-Alternator is not producing a tach signal (if you have a deutz, remove the access panel on the right side of the engine to gain access to back of the alternator,
------when looking at the back of the alternator:
---------- (1 o'clock) Tach Signal (with engine running 7.1vdc and 313Hz)
---------- (4 o'clock) Power input to field coil (gets power from terminal 21 inside the ground control box)
---------- (8 o'clock) Battery Positive (constant 12v)
-3-Power ISM terminal 4

But, If the engine still dies:
-make sure you are getting Good power and Ground to the Fuel shut off solenoid (located on the front of the engine above the idler pulley)
--is you remove the fuel shutoff the engine should run indefinitely

Useful info on the ISM

Ignition start module terminals 1-10
1= Output to starter relay enable (CR1 terminal 86)
2= Input, Tach signal input (this is read in Hertz, signal is produced by the alternator)
3= Input, Start Toggle switch
4= Input, Aux pump toggle switch (power on this terminal will cut power to terminal 9)
5= Ground (should have less than 1Ω to battery negative)
6= Input, Battery voltage (from CB1)
7= Input, Battery voltage (key switch power, TB23)
8= blank
9= Output to Ignition relay (CR2 terminal 86)
10= Input, Fault detection (will receive a ground from oil pressure and/or coolant temp sensor. circuit is ignored for 5 seconds after starting engine)

*Note: Power inputs must remain above 10.5vdc while cranking engine

first question I’ll ask is...do you still have a alternator belt??...if so open ground box open it crank machine watch #2 I believe (tachometer) does it go out right before engine dies??.....then hook a backprobe into orange wire coming from alternator connector and watch voltage if constant voltage we need to go into terminal strip...if no voltage bad alternator

Air cooled deutz also have a shutdown switch on or near the belt tensioner. So if your fan belt brakes your engine shuts down.

Yea first thing always to check on 2011 Deutz with your symptoms are the belt as the machine gets its tachometer signal from the alternator so if belt breaks machine cranks but no RPM signal is fed to ISM so engine shuts down...then move onto measuring HZT output of alternator

I’ve never seen these on the 2011...not saying they don’t exist...the tensioner is just that 17mm bolt and the 8mm Allen bolt with one pulley and brackets is all I’ve seen..I’ll keep my eyes open though..must be old machine...you got a picture??...everything I’ve seen is the orange tach wire sending signal VIA the alternator to the ISM
