This little articulated hydraulic-drive riding roller is sitting in the weeds, without an engine. I can get it for nothing, but have lots of other things to work on and am doing searches trying to figure out whether the thing is worth fixing for friends with equipment, or worth fixing to sell. At the time this machine (ser. 1013) was built, Brutus was owned by Nortech Corp. in New Jersey. The Brutus division was sold to a guy in Florida. Brutus Roller has an unworkable website (as the owner proved to himself when I phoned him)(why do so many businesses have such clunky websites??).

As far as I can tell, the original engine might have been some variant of the Honda GX390 geared-drive (6:1) horizontal shaft.
I would like to know what actual sub-type of this engine is called for. So far Brutus hasn't helped with this.

So, does anyone here have one of these Brutus 2M rollers??
