DGODGR I am using Cat GET and the shanks aren't undersized, the bucket was shipped with the machine from the factory.

I've used the Cat guarantee on GET more than once. As far as tiger teeth go, they just don't work well for our digging conditions.

Well it's been a while so I figured I'd post some pics of jobs over the last several months. It's been busy with a healthy variety of work.
Small demo job at an existing shopping center for a new end cap.

Didn't expect the asphalt to be this thick. Obviously hard to tell but it looks like the GAB was off grade and they brought it up with asphalt. That's an expensive filler..

Gas station scrape and re-build, we currently have 2 for the same company.. We didn't do the demo on this one but did the demo on the other one.

Stormtech system installation, both new stations have them. Hole dug to grade, fabric down and 6" #57 stone layer going in.

Chambers, manifolds and inlet structure set.

3 - 20K gallon tanks set. We obviously didn't set the tanks but we dug the hole. Also dug out and backfilled around the last two canopy footings that had to be formed and poured due to existing gravel backfill from the old tanks that were removed.

Small side job - repair a sanitary sewer MH prior to final seal coat in a new subdivision. Off-set flat top lid with concrete donut and new R&C.

R&C with donut mortared in. We used tar strips on the joint between the existing manhole and the new top, as well as between the donut and the top. The inside was wiped with water plug.

For safety and liability reasons we backfilled the hole at the end of the day with gravel and safe'd it up. The mortar on the cone was still wet so we came back the next morning and compacted the gravel around the MH, cleaned up and removed the traffic control.

What kind of shoring did you use for the gas station tanks for the hole it doesn't look to deep just curious if you guys use slide rail out there as always your work looks good

Jakebreak there was no shoring, not by our decision but from higher ups. We were hired to dig the hole and we sloped it the best we could.

That situation will not happen again.

I can't believe how much mortar you put on that lol. Over here people think I'm over doing it when I put mortar under the riser instead of just wiping some on the outside!

Hey CM, you're lucky with only 5 inches

-- we run into asphalt like this all the time doing warehouse work, usually it's in 2 or 3 layers.

It's the way we finish out a ring and cover on a flat top in the street, especially if it's sanitary. This city is also a very picky municipality to deal with so we went overboard a bit.

Hvy we've been very busy work wise and I lost my mom on April 19th from a long battle with cancer.

Currently we are finishing up a gas station, in the middle of a professional office building project and tearing down a bank for a new green auto store.

Gas station tank hole - solid limestone. More on this project later when I have time to go through more pics and talk about the retainer wall behind the Kobelco.

Both hammers are rentals, one from United and one from Cat.

Got to love stupid scheduling...

Canopy steel erected at the beginning of the job before the building slab was even poured.

Squeezing the 336FL hammer underneath to beat some rock for a storm line.

Professional office building project.

42" RCP very close to power pole servicing the credit union next door. The pole was 8' in the ground, at least that's what the power man said.

GC had to get Alabama Power out with a derrick truck to hold the pole while we dug past, laid the pipe and backfilled. Went off without any problems.

I am fortunate to have some great guys who work with me that have picked up my slack during the last couple of weeks and being busy does help. The future work load is looking well.

Sorry to hear about your mom I'm glad we don't have to deal with limestone a whole lot out here is it slow going when you hammer that stuff out I don't like squeezing by them power poles on a side note we had a guy years ago running back fill on a excavator next to a pole forgot it was there and swung into it on his blind side broke like a tooth pick and put quite a few people out of power oops as always the work looks good

Talking about Life & loss ..... I never was comfortable in a funeral home or a delivery room .

Know what to do at a job site but this is out of my capability ......

Never did forget when the Doc asked me if I wanted to cut the umbilical cord on our new born child .... " Hell no Doc ! " That's why we hired you to do this job ...

CM Sorry about your mom.

Lost ours a few years back. She was good, or at least seemed to be, right up to the last day. Our sister stopped by in the morning and only mentioned she felt a bit tired neighbor went in that after noon to check on her and she was gone. Only hope that when my time comes I can go like that.

Back to the project, really have to wonder about someone who schedules a job where construction starts before grading is done wonder what other dumb things they will do. Put up sheet rock before running the wires in the walls?

I've got a building we've been working on that has sheetrock going up on the inside, and the roof isn't done. If it rains, there's water everywhere running down the stairwells. Never put anything past a general "superintendent".
