I mine lead shot at shooting ranges and currently using a screen I built. I am looking to upgrade but don't know if I would be better of to go with a vibrating screen like I already have or use a trommel. Any suggestions? Thanks

Just depends on the range I am at but more clay then anything seems like. I use a small size screen on lower deck it is 3/16 hole right now. Nice thing about the vibrating screens Im looking at like a EZ screen 1200xls is it has 2 screens so I can put like a 1/2" or 3/8" screen on top then a 3/16 on bottom so it doesn't flood it. I have no experience with a trommel tho so wasn't sure what the production would be slower or faster.

Well, clay is sticky and will try to blind your screens. You will need a lot of water to prevent blinding. I would think high frequency lower deck at a lesser amplitude and just the opposite on your upper deck. I have no experience with a trommel but if it's what i think, i think that may give you better results.

I hope this isn't against the rules.

Click on facts and figures. It's a lengthy pdf with a ton of information. I would start in washing and classifying , see where it takes you. I work for the dealer who represents this manufacturer. I say this so as not to hide anything.

I mine shot from shooting ranges in UK. We use use trommels as it is easier to get good separation of bullets from berm material due to the amount of screen they pass over being much greater in a trommel. The cleaning brushes are very important as we screen at 5mm so the holes clog rapidly if you don’t keep cleaning them. Our berms are nearly all sand of some description, from the good stuff being hard rock fines, to as dug mainly dirt. Can’t imagine how you could easily separate bullets from clay unless it was extremely dry and you shredded it first.
We are not allowed to use wash plants as they say the water will be contaminated with lead and antimony and then the run off will contaminate the surrounding area.
