I got the other side done this morning before the rainstorms hit.I have 6 mounts in there. Each mount has a shear strength of 85lbs.That should be more than enough to support the rad and vibration.Lateral movement is quite good.Hopefully this solves the problem.I will find out the next time the temps drop..
Forgot to cut the corners off but I can do that later.

Not much to report.Havent seen the interior guy since the beginning of Dec.Its not really a issue as its been raining since then anyways.I pulled the shifter back out today for another rebend.I like where it is but it would be a knee banger if I had three people in the truck.Might as well fix it now...
It has to go back to the glass shop as well. When it was really cold I had lots of condensation in the tent and the glass had a few leaks. They are going to pull the front glass again and will have to put some sealer in.
For now it will just sit.I will plate it when the weather breaks.

It was a nice day so I fired up the truck and put it in the sun.I let it run for a while till it hit around 190deg.Tried the heater and as with the last time it was blowing cold air still. It slowly climbed to 205 and I ran it up and down the driveway just playin around and the temp just stayed around 205.I put the truck away and opened up the hood to have a look.Radiator was stone cold so I guess the thermostat isn't opening.I was kind of happy as that would explain the lack of heat.I will yank it out tomorrow and check it..
I have a mechanical temp gauge that is screwed in to the back of the engine.

Looks like your 1 step from being on the road now if the weather Gods are nice to you this weekend you could get out for more test drives. Then on the 14th take Mary out for dinner.

Whats on the 14th ??(har har)
Took it apart today but before I started I checked the coolant level.I was surprised to find it down quite a bit.I guess it had some air in it and I hadn't checked it.Anyways I pulled the thermostat. It is a Gates 180deg.I boiled up some water and cycled the t-stat numerous times. It just starts to open at 180.I reinstalled everything and dumped in another 5 liters of anti freeze.I ran the truck for a little bit till it started to heat up.The heater now works fine.I didn't run it long enough to open the t-stat but I am sure all is fine..I will probably run the truck up to temp tomorrow.
The heater is actually higher up than the rad so I may have to raise the front of the truck to get the system completely full.

Been pretty cold here the last few weeks and going to be even colder next week.So far the rad has not lost a drop.If it survives the -10 cold next week I will know that the changes were good..

I was at the insurance agent today turning in the paper work to get the modified collector plates for my 67 and I grabbed some plates for the Grizzly. When we get some good (dry) weather I will road test it.I will put the plates on tomorrow and just wait.It was snowing here this morning..
At some point in time the weight of the truck was changed to make it air care exemt so I need/want to get it weighed.I don't think it's any where near the 3500KG's(7700lbs) its listed at.The correct weight will bring my rates down a bit as well..For out of province readers our air care testing is shut down and gone.
There is no shortage of scales out here....

A guess the weight challenge?

Ok, I reckon 3130 kg ( without driver).

Looking forward to warm spring days.

I am thinking/hoping for about 2600KG...I am open to guesses on the weight..As I am lucky to weigh 145lbs on a good day my weight doesn't really come into the equation.
I spent 2 hours dicking around with another set of wiper blades. They wont work.I found the right marine blades to go with the articulated wiper arms and ordered them.
Snowed again last night and has been freezing out..Still no rad leaks.
I finally got the last gadget (other than a VH radio)for the truck today.I have a 3000W inverter to install. You never know when you want to brew some coffee in the backwoods.

I should get my wiper blades next week and that will clear up that issue. We have had lots of minus 10c weather and I have a few drips out of the rad.Nothing like it was.I will spend some time going over all the bolts (aprox 100) when the weather is better for laying/sitting on the ground.
I put my plates on today so the to do list is getting getting very small. We had about 10" of snow on yesterday and there is more to come. The truck can stay in its den for now...
I need to wire up the license plate light as well.

Jumbo.....the drum line is wire.I thought about the synthetic but I have no experience with 4x4 winches at all and just didn't know anything about the synthetic...For corrosion, weight, spooling and kinks I would prefer synthetic.I was more concerned with finding a winch I could hide in the back of the bumper.
You have some input/info on wire preference..???
Winch is a 12,000 lb Warn

I have quit using steel, on my two winches, one is on a trailer and the other is a small hoisting drum in my shop. both are 1/4" Samson Amsteel Blue. The lines are advertised as matching capacity size for size. (and no jaggers.) I first learned about it about 10 years ago when an outfit was using if for strawline, it is a lot lighter than steel. I figure if it survives working in the woods, it will survive anything. I know the military uses it now for it's winches, There are other brands that are probably just as good as Samson, I only know of Samson. I do know that you can specify synthetic on a Warn winch, (a friend just bought an ATV winch with synthetic from the factory) so I would assume from their standpoint it must be just as good. I do know you only need a simple flat fairlead, you don't need rollers. And again, what sold me was ; no jaggers.:D

Interesting...I will look into it.It just so happens my neighbor across the street is high up in the local wire rope company and I will talk to him when he gets back from his homeland (Australia)
And yes..Warn does use it and it was optional on my winch...
I will do some research.....Thanks

Yes, use synthetic if you want the best you can get. If you want the "correct" look then go 5/16" wire up to a 12k then go 3/8" wire.

Good point, if you are doing restoration, wire matches the era better. (Snide comment; right down to the jaggers...) Sorry, I just could not resist.;) But you better have a spliced eye rather than a pressed eye. Years ago, I had a 67 Ford with a chunk of 7/16 strawline for a drumline matched with an old guyline shackle hanging from it. Of course that was 45+ years ago and the the bed had a number of empty Rainer cans bouncing around. I would never let anything bounce around in the back of that Grizzly.
