deere 160lc problems

I have an 99 160lc with 8900hrs, only owned for about 200hrs. Machine starts to bog down if you use any hydraulic function, and bog down being almost able to kill the engine. Deere has been out several times but not really getting anywhere. When it bogs down it is instant, not something that creeps up. We have been up one side and down the other on the engine side of it, new turbo, injector pump and injectors. It runs great! Now deere wants me to throw a pump on it, they think it is the relief in the pump. But throwing 15k at it on a hunch has me concerned. Deere had me throw a lot of money at it already thinking other things were the problem.
engine and hydraulic pulls down a little when it is running well and you bottom out hydraulics, pump has very minimal whine, no more than a lot of other equipment. any thing to look at before I throw $$$$$ at it

I firmly suggest the pump is pressure and flow tested before anything else is done. It gives a good diagnosis and base line to start from. The problem could be further along in the hydraulics and if the pump checks out OK then move the gauges onto the control bank. Guessing problems is expensive, diagnosing is less expensive.

I agree with Tones, make them do a flow test and make sure you're there and that he's bottoming a function out at during test. I've seen reliefs just sticking causing similar issue.

Just curious, when it pulls the engine down does it recover quickly or slowly when load is removed?

And does it smoke? Have you measured the turbo boost pressure? while it's bogging down.

Sounds like your Deere engineer is just guessing and its cost you $$$$$ already. Very rarely a hydraulic pump will cause engine stall. Its more than likely either the torque control system on the machine or the regulators that are causing it. I'm not familiar with the machine but i know in the States that their basically Hitachi's with a coat of yellow paint. Do you know what the equivalent Hitachi model is?

It will be a EX160 with a JD engine

I completely agree with garyw about the dealer just throwing money at it, that's why I was wanting more info about it's behavior. You need to find a better mechanic. I could see this being a problem with the electronics, like a bad ECM, sensor, or wiring problem.

Isn't there any way to run a comprehensive test?

Jerry, they should be able to plug it in to a diagnostic computer. Either that didn't find the problem or they're just the kind of shop that throws stuff at the wall. Either way, the OP hasn't been back.

Sorry been busy. yes, they plug into it the diagnostic port. They run it thru the cycles and bottom it out. Motor wise everything is great. it recovers as soon as you let off sticks, if you ease into it, it wount bog till you put full pressure on it. It had been doing good, the bog would come and go and wasn't very frequent. Thursday I notice, a grind/vibration, thought turntable needed grease, went a few more hours and kept getting worse, I have very little hydraulic function now. So I guess what ever was the problem, finally let go. Anybody have any good sources for rebuilt pumps? I was looking at ams, about half price of deere and longer warranty
