We had that happen on a 972 loader, not in hyd sys but in the fuel. wiped out the pump and injectors in no time at all.

When it came time ti fess up who done it, got the same old story wasn't me and i didn't do it.
Why can't the idiots just ask a simple question? Like "what is this stuff and where does it go?" A farmer friend of mine has 6 tractors and 3 swathers and a couple of trucks that use DEF and even with a few "non-English speaking" types the stuff gets put in the proper tank. The BLUE cap kind of explains it all. And he does color code fill caps on older stuff that was never well marked to begin with.

it was actually a 930, not a 972

I've got a guy that has a filter cart he rents w 2 micron filtration & and those filters remove water from diesel. I don't know if it'll remove water from hydraulics....I just texted him and will let you know. But it's not going to be cheap. I don't know how big urea is...2 micron's may catch it?

You've got 2 main issues here. Water- not good. Urea- (nitrogen fertilizer) also not good. They're now in your skid loaders' hydraulic system that is an expensive single system where contamination is going to be everywhere. I've got a customer with a 262D? that just spent $18k in the drives and pumps from a failure. That did't include labor (he did it himself).

Another option is...

I've got no idea what they charge to rent this thing...but I'd call them and tell them your story and see what their thoughts are on fixing your situation. It'll de-water but I don't know about any urea. I'll bet the farm that standard filters are not going to catch any of it.

Just heard back from him...it'll remove water. Up to 5% of the volume of the fluid is cost effective. His filters catch water, but water basically expands the filters and they'll stop up. The filters are not super expensive, but they're not free either.

He's in Reno, NV. Dan Cummings 775-745-0283 call him, he's a former mechanic and highly knowledgeable resource.

Damn. That's a new one. DEF in the hydraulic tank. It obviously didn't do the machine any good having that mixed in. Keep us posted on if/when the hydraulics act up. I'm thinking you will just have to drain and flush the system multiple times, and hopefully that will prevent further damages.
I've seen DEF in the fuel tanks before with very expensive consequences, and anyone who has handled DEF knows how corrosive it is to anything that's not stainless steel or plastic.

I had it happen on a Dodge pick up, where DEF ended up in the fuel. Of course the driver says "I didn't do it"
It is not good for fuel systems I know, to the tune of over $5K in repairs
