I agree with the previous comments. They are a versatile tool, but nothing comes without a cost. I've used for septic work, finishing mound systems (above grade piles of sand, rock and topsoil cover), and it's a nice substitute for a dozer for that, as the blade moves, without track damage, ditching is another good application, for same. When doing soil pits, for evaluation, I can squirt into trees, without having to cut them down. I've used extendaboom, rubber tired Deere and Case machines, so haven't had the full versatility of the Gradall shown in first pic, which would be nice with the swiveling boom. Similar machine that I've used is a Cat 120 excavator with swivel bucket, which, again, is really nice for finish work, but you give up a little when excavating.
