Hi..could not find a listing for Cahill in Sayward....could you email me his phone number or pass my email address off to him...Thanks
coryellwyn@hotmail.com

We've somehow crossed wires here methinks. LOL

Look up Arthur Bowbrick in Sayward and talk to him.

He's the guy I talked with yesterday.

Last I heard about Pete Cahill was he'd had a major stroke a few years ago and is in a home around Nanaimo nowadays.

Hearsay so I'm not positive but I haven't seen Pete around for a couple of years and I know he'd sold his truck and all the parts and stuff he had before he had the stroke 'cause I talked to him about it.

But give Art a call and pick his brain. I was impressed by what he knew about them.

Ain't confusion fun??

Take care.

There ya go...Probably my mistake...When you described the truck it sounded familiar.I met Art in Alberni at one of the truck shows a few years ago.It was the first Grizzly I had seen in a long time and I spotted it right away.I talked to him for quite a while before I actually got to the reason why I was there..I will give him a call....Thanks

Art Bowbrick lives in Sayward , Pete Cahill was thought to be in Alberni

I did find a Pete Cahill in Duncan...Interesting about truck # 3 as I was told a while ago from a friend that a guy he worked with purchased (new)the grey one that's on the brouchures.Logic says it was truck # 3.His name was Stanley N.I have found him but had no success contacting him.The where abouts of the truck are still unknown..

I think Art told me that a guy from Kamloops named Gene Legault ? was the original owner of #3. He owned a trucking company I think.
He'll tell you all about it as well as one that was never licensed to the best of his knowledge. Think it was a Supercab with a Ford six cylinder engine and a lot of problems.
I recall the last one was bought by a lady nurse who drove it until she traded it in at a Ford dealership in the BC Interior somewhere. I think the next owner traded a backhoe or suchlike for it.

Just realized there's no sense in me posting much more here 'cause you'll hear all this and more when you talk to Art. Kinda just typing practise for me right now I guess. LOL

All the best.

The black grizzly (I don't remember what # it is) was originally built with a 300 I6 Ford engine. It is the only one I have heard of with a Ford 6 engine. It now has a Perkins diesel in it..He also owns one of the next trucks Geoff built..Both of these truck I believe are also in Qualicum or very close by..
I have heard about a Grizzly up in Kamloops

Art told me the guy used to tow a trailer with his Grizzly on it with the Ursidae.

Never seen one of those before.

Take care.

Geeze I'm getting slow in my old age.

Just realized that "Ursidae" is the Latin name for the Bear family.

Copycat of the Grizzly with a creative name it looks like.

Take care.

Spent some time today sitting on my butt under the truck drilling, tapping and clamping up lines and wiring..Starting to look tidy under there.
I forgot that I was going to dissect the light panels off the back of the truck. They were free hand cut with a plasma and they are oversize. The rubber seals kinda just flop around in the holes.I water jet two new panels for the truck months ago...Panels were tack welded/stitched in place then sealed up with a mixture of unknown products.I am taking the easy way out and will just rivet the new panels on.I will remove the other panel tomorrow..They are getting new seals and new LED lights..

I have phoned Art twice now and just got the machine.I maybe calling a cell phone that's turned off at night (??)

Very good (LOL)....point taken. You are right....not my thing
My options...panels could be welded back on but I will ruin the surrounding paint.I could panel bond them on but I will probably have to purchase way more than I need and it has a shelf life..
I could rivet them on with aluminum rivets which will/would be easy to remove..When the day comes that I strip the box and have it blasted I could weld the panels on then..
I have still not figured out how to get the old, bubbling, peeling rubber coating out of the box...Where it is loose.....it's loose.Where it is still glued/stuck on it is on..I have a few more things to try...Untill I remove it all (and yes they did the box sides) the box cannot be blasted.
I have other things to focus so I am not worried about it...I am pushing to have it back on the road this summer...

Cory,

What number are you using?

282-3741 is his and not a cel phone.

Use the 250 prefix.

Keep trying.......it's worth it.

Take care.

Well ...after much thought on how to do it I drilled two four and a half inch holes in the box for the stacks.Holes are just inboard of the frame rails.Frame is only 28" inside.I don't want the pipes outboard of the rails and I want the least amount of box space taken up by the pipes..Box floor is 1/8 thick. The holes are not a indication of where the stacks will be.They will be outboard as far as possible..grizzly 005.JPG

Slowly trying to peel the rubber coating out of the box.Jean had been working a way at it as well...Its going to take a while...Water has got behind it and started wreaking havoc on the metal..Drivers side wheel tub in the box has suffered the worse.Easy repair but something else I will have to fix..grizzly 006.JPG

Tailgate, headlight boxes and taillight panels got dropped off at the paint shop.Probably have the stuff back in a week.But....as he never charges me to do my stuff I am happy to wait till it is done..
A friend was over the other day looking at the truck and he is not what you would call verbally shy...He told me that was a F***ing stupid place to put the valve for the front air bags as some A**h**e will step on it and leave me stranded...He has a point.I would never stand on it but that doesn't mean some one else wouldn't.I made a simple little guard for it..Nothing is ever secure from everyone...The empty hole is for another receptacle.I have a 250W oil pan heater as well.
You can see the pitting in the running board.Thats the water damage from having the rubber coating on and water was migrating in and under. That is epoxy paint on them now so they are safe for now..I may make new ones later. For now the originals can stay on.

Kinda sorta...maybe more than a month but I want it on the road for summer.I have a friend coming over on sunday to help me put the trans &t/case on the engine. Then early in the week I will get the truck here and drop the unit back in...First priority will be building a transmission x-member and get the drive shaft measurements over to Coast Powertrain and get the new drive shafts built..Lots to do......
