Ultra thin lift

Anyone here have any experience with ultra thin lift asphalt. We are looking at experimenting with this as a treatment. What type of gear are you using, spread rates, tack, is it good for freeze thaw.

The only experience I've had with ultra thin lift asphalt is with a company called Midland. This company uses a process known as "Nova Chip" in which their paver sprays a emulsion of oil directly in front of a asphalt mat being placed at a depth of around one inch. The mat is rolled quickly by a ten ton or so compactor and is open to traffic fairly quickly. If you look for Midland Asphalt and "Nova Chip" on the web they can describe it a little better. This has raised its head again. Hard for contractors to justify to buy a stealth paver or jet paver so we are looking at possibility of us buying the paver. Anyone out there have used the vougle jet paver or the roadtec 200 stealth paver. Wondering the pros and cons of both.
