Hi there I am looking at newer excavators I currently have a case 9020b, it has been a great machine with tons of lifting power and no real problems. I have been looking at case cx160c and 160D models. Also I would not be against linkbelt 160s since they are the same machine. Has any one on here ever ran a C series vs D. Or linkbelt x3 vs x4? I ran both at a dealer and they seemed about the same, but the C almost felt more powerful and a little faster even though the D is supposed to be quicker and more powerful. Any problems with the newer cases ? Any input on them would be great thanks!

I had a 210 for 10 years, moved to a 210D last year. Had a 350C for a year. Overall the D's are quicker, and more responsive. Kind of like the older summitomo machines were known for. The C's were built for fuel efficiency, and economy, good machines, just not as quick.

Now I'm curious about a D. I have a 210C and have been pretty much happy with it, thought it was plenty fast but they can always be faster. We have a little over 2000 hours on ours, has been pretty much trouble free until this fall when two injectors decided to lay down. I think what you're looking for is the best machine for the right price, whether it be a Case or a Link Belt.

I never ran the 210C, only going off my experience with the 350, and the complaints from other contractors about the C series. We really like the 210D. Fuel economy is as good, if not better than the old Teir 3 cummins in my original 210. Have had zero trouble with the DEF, as a whole have had less trouble with DEF machines compared to the regen versions.

Thanks for the response! I am also now looking at the new Deere 160g's any idea how they compare to case ? the Deere is about 35k more but they seem to hold their resale better. Is the Deere really that much better to justify a price difference like that ?!?!? In the long run 7000 + hours what do ya think the better choice is ?
