Ok i have a 2001 or 2002 new holland dc 80. Its been pretty cold up here in the zero temp range. I started it last friday and the tracks will not move at all. The blade and everything work perfectly fine, the tracks are not frozen which would be a common problem., I checked all the fuses and they were all ok but i wasnt sure if there were any in-line fuses or other common problems. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Does it have a lock out lever? If it does maybe the switch in there is not working properly.maybe some moisture has froze in the switch. If is has an enclosed cab crank up the heat and let it sit for awhile with the heat running...just I thought

yep, it has a lockout lever, but the blade works properly,(wouldnt with it locked) No cab so no heat. And it would be very hard to get it onto a trailer back to the shop without the tracks spinning, we tried towing it once with an excavator and it just dragged the tracks. So from what i can gather so far its something electrical. Also theres a red light on the lower left hand corner of the dash that blinks now and never did before. We reset the computer a few times but its still not moving.

I have a friend with a new holland dc-75 and they are on controler number 3,the prob. is when it is cold and the machine cranks a long time to start the volts drop to the controler( for the tracks) and it frys the controler:mad::mad: new holland has not come up with a fix yet!!:beatsme:beatsme

It has been a while since I played with these, but I'll take a shot at a couple things. First of all, if the armrests flip up and down each armrest has a simple (and cheap) micro switch that can easily get broken by the arm rests flopping down. I can't remember if both have to be down in order for the blade to function. If the arm rests don't flip up the lock out is grounded when the seat belt is connected. This would be the first place I would look. The flashing light on the dash I believe is a fault for the TCU (transmission control unit). I think you need a dealer tool to re-calibrate the transmission. I am not sure how you reset the transmission computer, but when you tried this you maybe have caused the fault and thus caused the flashing light on the dash.

In regards to towing the machine, you won't be able to tow the unit unless you release the parking brake and allow the hydrostatic system to loop on itself. There should be a port that allows you to pump the brakes down (there may even be a pump on board - I can't remember). There should also be a procedure to allow the hydrostatic system to loop so the tracks can turn freely. You won't be able to tow it very fast, but the tracks should turn and not drag on the ground as you stated. The local dealer should be able to look up the procedure for towing.

Good luck.

Careful here.....a DC75 has nothing in common with a DC70. :nono They are two totally different machines. The DC70 was built in Germany by MacMotor and the DC75 is the same as a Case 650K built in Calhoun GA at the Kobelco plant.

Ill be calling a dealer today. The only problem is if they come for a service call its 75$ an hour from the time they leave till the time they get back and its an hour and a half to the dealer so we do all of our own maintenance. I guess ill see what their tech says. And the blade doesnt work if one arm is up so that eliminates all of those problems..

The dc75 is a newer machine and is not the same as a dc80. New Holland came out with a new controller to fix the problem your talking about. So that issue has been taken care of under warranty.

The light flashing on the dash is from the computer. Most of the time if resetting the computer doen't fix it, the computer itself is bad. But be sure to check the computer plug in and gound wire. You can bypass the computer by turn the valve located under the floor panel under your feet. The handle to the right bypasses the computer, the handle in the middle lets block of the park brake so you can pump up the system with a hand pump to release the brakes to roll. Keep in mind with the computer in the bypass mode it won't run as well, but safe to move around. By the way the computer does cost a lot so be ready.
