It's been a long haul since October, you can ask Stumpy Wally on this forum, smile....but I received my JCB 260 yesterday and this forum helped immensely, so thank you.

Until I posted here, I never even HEARD OF JCB and was headed for a Gehl like my friend's.

I also enjoyed the posts of what you can do with a skid loader. Some of us need to justify the purchase more than others....

A HUGE THANK YOU FOR ALL THAT MAKE UP THIS FORUM AND ALL YOUR HELPFUL POSTS.

Thank you, also, JCBiron, you really know your stuff and have to be one of the best dealers ever.
For instance, who knew they added an optional mud fender flap on one side to keep manure off the door handle? He knew way more than that, but that one stuck out as unique in my mind.

How are you finding the quality and the overall experience of the JCB comparing it to a Gehl ,cat , deere , Kubota ?

i LOVE THE JCB 260, but I am biased because I have never had any other kind of skid loader.
Of course, the left handed door was a big selling point...
So far the only problems have been my fault, bent side mirror, horn not working (I plugged in a shabby light into the outlet and it apparently blew the fuse and my friend and I did not check the fuses correctly)...two flat tires...all my fault! (The right mirror is out of sight on the side lift arm, so I felt resistance, but was unable to see that I was hooking the light against a building)

When I bent the right mirror/light badly, it also perhaps made the hydraulic hoses loose, and I lost all kinds of hydraulic fluid, so I called JCB and the first service guy said any hydraulic fluid would work. Thank the Lord when I was at Farm and Fleet and a 20ish girl told me what to buy, I called JCB service again to double check and I got someone else luckily, who told me I needed UNIVERSAL hydraulic fluid, since it works in other areas as well.

I find the instruction manual severely lacking. I have so many of these "dumb" questions. When I rented an auger to dig post holes....no where could I decipher which buttons would make the auger go...finally something clicked and I remembered how I previously made the Demo-Dozer operate and which buttons I used.

I ask for answers on my youtube channel, but so far not much help (one guy wrote "read the manual). I am sorry, I'm spoiled by "show and tell" on youtube....that's how I learn better reaching the ripe old age of almost 59. (for instance the quick attach snow blade adjustments are beyond me, the manual has a few pictures that are dark and not understandable to me).

Of course I only have under 200 hours on it, purchased May 2015. My Gehl friend clued me in and I acquired a spare tire.

I am told that people like what they are used to...a retired operator looked at it and hated the idea of the lift arm, etc. only because he is used to years of his kind of skid loader, IMHO.

I have a Gehl 4640 nice machine we got a snow blower for it last year but who ever figured out the position of where the hydro lines come out and the where you have to clime into the machine with make it very hard when everything is so slippery especially when the door opens that way. we are looking at the side door machine for that reason ease of entry. I like looking at stuff on you tube showing it is faster than reading about it and you get to see where it is exactly if the person filming shows it LOL.

What name do you go under on youtube?

You have made my day.
I am admitting my weak points and thank you so much for your reply.
Here is a comment from a mechanic I talked to, 8 years ago he suggested his customer get rid of his JCB's, because they had to wait like 6 weeks for a part and then it came wrong, a radiator perhaps? So they retrofitted it somehow due to the time taken to get parts.
HOWEVER I wonder if this has changed......because in northern Illinois we now have a parts distributor in Aurora, IL.
Maybe someone would comment on getting parts for JCB.

I have yet to price my right mirror, arm/LED lights, as I am told I will be shocked, and I will wait till I am stronger!!

Smile, yes. I was so happy when a middle aged widow wrote me and told me my videos helped her get out there and drive her skiddy herself. MADE MY YEAR!

My cousin is always in a hurry so when he showed me how to change the oil at 50 hours I couldn't mess around with a camera. My Bad.

You are too kind! For sure! I just really appreciate when others make videos to help others.............I am constantly wanting to share what knowledge I learn from others.

Did you see the uses for bagster, sometimes I don't put it on the right channel...I have several bagsters now which I have used to pick snow fence corn and put into dump box and then dump into combine for the farmer....to insert into truck bed and load heavy items (holds 3300 pounds) and then take JCB 260 and lift the bagster up and drive away....Bagsters are available on amazon, at home building stores for around $35. I heard WM pickup costs are $175.

That should help at least one person I'm betting on it! Roof shingles, corn, wooden posts for fencing, braces, anything that will fit in the Ford 150 1996.

I have NOT been able to hoist the skiddy up for rear tire change.....I failed miserably both times I attempted it. Last time a mile into the field, a friend had me lift the skiddy up with the Ford 6700 bucket so we could get the tire off. I had taken the lug nuts? off, but in hindsight, I think my cousin told me to loosen them, not take them all the way off. So it made a real mess. But too time consuming to grab a camera at the time. I have a few shots but not enlightening ones.

Scotty Kilmer ? I think is the guy's name that has really good videos on car maintenance, have you seen him? Forty seven years of experience, he's fast talking and funny, you can always pause and go back, my objective is to make videos fast and to the point when I can.

https://www.youtube.com/user/scottykilmer

ANOTHER fun youtube source is HOW FARMS WORK from Wisconsin, that is where I found my first skid loader directions.

I am sorry that I missed you asking which youtube channel..... to show people how to find it I google "youtube jcb 260 beginner" and the channel comes up.

Congratulation on your new skid loader, I've had my Volvo MCT125c for about 1 1/2 years now and will never be without a 1 armed skid loader again around my sawmill. its been working great so far. If I was going to buy another brand they would have to come out with the 1 armed design. Steve

Thank you! My angle brush arrives today, just in time for all the snow we got yesterday!
My dog is indicating there is a mouse in my skid loader, so I am concerned, I put scent pouches in the cab and a trap in the back...what is a good way to keep mice out?
I cannot use moth balls because I cannot smell them and I think it's too dangerous for me.

I was told evergreen scent pouches are what some guys around here are using and they work for them I myself have not tried it so I can not say if it works or doesn't

I put some of those scent pack along with some poison side by side in the back of both of my skid loaders. They ate the poison in both of them so I'd guess the scent packs don't work at all. Tried the same with moth balls with the same results. Steve

I read on the natural cab? scent stuff, it said do NOT place with poison traps because those traps attract mice...I was trying to delete other message.

Who knows what works with those scent packs, I'd rather have a dead mouse from poison. Steve
