Terex wheeled skid steers - anyone using them?

I need to add a 70+ hp wheeled skid steer for snow removal this winter and have been looking at a .
lot of used machines.

I found a nice tsr80 Terex with 1000hrs on it for sale in another state and paid to have it transported to a dealership close to where I live to demo it.

The last 3 seasons I have rented a Takeuchi tsv70 which is just a re-branded Terex (Terex makes all the Takeuchi wheeled skid steers). I loved the machine in the winter and had very little issues.

I am just concerned because no one around here is running a Terex wheeled machine and all the ones I see for sale are under 1000 hrs (most are under 500).

The dealership I was renting the Takeuchi from has since sold it and will not be getting another, they said I was the only one who ever rented it.

I was renting it for $800 a month (cheap because I also rent 3 3.5 yard wheel loaders from them as well).
All dealers I have called around to for winter skid steer rentals are almost $2000 a month. At $2000 a month I can buy this loader and have it paid for when my 3 year contract is up.

So anyway, just wondering if anyone has used the TSR/V line of Terex wheel loaders and how the experience has been.

Thanks.IMG_7252.jpg

I have yet to see one go by on a trailer much less one on a job. The one Terex dealer near me also sells Komatsu and never has any Terex stuff in stock. The dealer that carried Terex before this one said getting parts was a nightmare and expensive to boot. Other than that info I really have nothing concrete to tell you......

Now I'm really scared that no one is using them.

The Terex CTLs & the recent SSLs were made by ASV & rebadged as Terex. That relationship has ended, now ASV is part of Manitex, & is selling their own stuff, as well as making the SSLs for Takeuchi.

Have a look at the ASV, LLC web site here: http://asvllc.com/

I battle with terex on old P&H parts (cranes, mines a 1988 so not terrible old for a crane), wouldn't wish them on a enemy. Terex is great about rebranding other people's stuff, selling it for a few years and then dropping the line. Good luck then on getting parts.

I know they've done this with both telehandlers and straight mast forklifts. Telehandler is a genie. I don't remember who the straight mast forklift was. Terex cranes are a combination of demag, lorain/koening, P&H, and American, maybe simon too.

I don't currently own a skid loader- let alone a terex, but I would probably buy anything else. Tak, Deere, Cat, Case, Bobcat etc. If the terex is cheap now, wait till 3 years from now, when you want to trade it.

Well now I really dont know what to do.

The skid steer is nice and we have a small Terex dealer within 30 miles.

The Takeuchi banded Terex I had was great and the price on this machine is great.

But yeah, I have never seen a Terex on a trailer or job site either.............

ASV is owned 51% by Manitex and 49% by Terex. At least that is what their website says.

I think I have to pull the trigger on purchasing the Terex.
Its a major brand, we have a local dealer, only 1000hrs, price is very right, and we will only use it for snow the rest of the year it will just be my around the house toy.

If you buy it, give it extreme maintenance, keep on top of things and hopefully you won't have too many problems. A lot of problems and failures are due to poor maintenance and guys doing stupid stuff with their machines.

While I don't see them around the Wisconsin market, for the right price don't hesitate & buy it.
In snow removal, you can have a top brand, but Sunday night at 11pm none are all that quick to get out onsite when basic problems come up.
If the bugs are worked out should last several years doing just snow removal.
Good luck & keep us posted

Looking around Terex is a major player in markets all over the world, it just seems to not be big in the US.
