Bought a factory service manual and a operators manual, but takes a while to get it shipped here. If anybody has a grease chart on where and how often to grease this old monster, I would like to see it. This weekend I will drive the 3.5 hours up to the seller, he allowed me to work on it at his place, I'd like to get the few big things in order like a through greasing. Using Cat extreme duty grease with moly, is that good for all the greasables?

Track rollers are stiff, but good, I'd like to add some oil. How does one do that? This has that forestry guard around the wheels. How much slack in chain is good?

Also need to redo/ sortmthrough most wiring for excessive splices and butt connectors, need to make up a lower window that's missing, and I want to add a fuel filter by the tank. Can that be plastic? Does the little fuel shut-off be removed, it's leaking.

Thanks for the help folks.

Greetings London from the B-lo ( Buffalo )
I just googled 693b Deere. Then i clicked images.
Seems like alot of info there. ....was on my phone so it was hard to see.
Then i added the word chart to it.
Should be some things for you to print out there.
Or at least enough to go on to ask specific questions after greasing and checking the easy stuff.
While there take pictures of trouble some areas for reference.
Hope this helps Kind regards, f

Had my operator and service manual show up. Too bad a 693b is a feller and I have excavator parts on mine.

Is J14C hydraulic oil anything special or is it standard 32 weight hydraulic oil?

So it says to grease most things every 10 hours, but for 500 hours I'm to grease the primary boom to secondary boom cylinder pin and secondary boom to tilt cylinder pin, main frame to primary boom pin and cylinder pin. Is that right? So bucket pins and cylinder every day, then everything else 4 times a year?

Can't speak on the hydraulic oil, you might see that spec listed on your brand of oil. My ex200 calls for an 8 and 50 hour greasing times depending on locations. Might be a misprint in your manual, my manual has many. I grease my stuff every 8 hours regardless, might only add 1-2 squirts on the less used joints, like to keep it fresh. The only 500 hr grease reference on mine is the swing gear and bearing. I've only heard the term overgreasing come from people who don't have to pay for the consequences of undergreasing. Correct me if I'm wrong.

How much and how often to grease something has much to do with the conditions it is working in. Digging in nice top soil is much different that running in wet sand with part of the machine submerged in water. To me over greasing is when I see a machine with literally handfuls of nice clean grease piled up around joints or little piles dripping off the machine when it sets over night!

I also liked having a machine greased after it was done working for the day especially if working in wet conditions. This helps flush out the moisture and dirt that got in during the day and also prevents it from hardening up over night or over the weekend. Also give one a good chance to spot other problems like loose parts that can be fixed before start up in morning.

Where I worked if certain machines were found to need minor repairs in the morning it could hold up several people from starting production. Where as if the work was spotted at end of shift someone could make the repairs without affecting any production.

I was going to grease everything 2 pumps every day, but there is so many nipples ! I just read yhat the swing bearing has 4 nipples and it all needs to be greased in 45 degree turns. Like all the way around?

Like kshansen mentioned, grease requirements relate to usage and contamination. Cost me $1000 to replace a worn out main bucket pin this spring, probably was the original 29 yr old pin. All the same I'd at least focus on the main joints. Most nipples are quickly and easily accessible when in the transport position. With your swing bearing, I'd grease all 4 straight, then turn 45 degrees and grease each again. I would think that should distribute the grease evenly enough. Someone else may have a better informed opinion. I greased mine closer than 45 degrees, like 10. Mine was flushed out from a leaking swing drive, and at a 500 hr interval I don't mind the little extra effort.
