Fuel gauge on a 236 skidsteer

Having some difficulties with the fuel gauge. Its not reading the actual level; at first for a couple of seconds the level is accurate and then it drops. Is something wrong with the fuel system? wiring is incorrect? Can't figure out whats wrong.
