We are in the market for a new long reach machine and have narrowed it down to basically these two machines. From what I understand the Case and Link Belt are essentially the same machines? Is there any reason to pick one over the other if all things are similar on pricing?

Cant say for certain about the link belt but I know the Cases have a 3yr 3000 hr procare and warranty procare covers all the service items engine oil, filters, etc , if link belt is offering the same the next thing to check would be support, closet dealer?, who has a better parts dept, service dept ? etc. Both machines are being manufactured by sumitomo who makes a very decent machine imo.

Both dealers are offering initial service with the case being a little longer but the link belt dealer offering better rental in case of extended down time if needed. The case is also about 6k cheaper. Just want to make sure they are the same machine and not something like the case being cheaper components or something

I've not checked on the very new machines, but historically Case has used Cummins engines and LinkBelt used Isuzu. If that is still the case then I'd likely go with the LinkBelt. But again it comes down to parts and service, who does the best job?

They are identical machines. Case has had Isuzu motor since B series. I have a 210d and they are great machines. Big difference from the earlier models.

I would think Case has a bigger dealer network than Linkbelt. We get calls from the Linkbelt dealer in our area a fair bit asking for help. Case has like Brad said Isuzu engines. But basically identical so I guess it comes down to how is your area dealer?

Looks like we are getting the Link Belt. The Case had a cheaper purchase price but the Link Belt had a better trade value on our current Cat 320BL so about a wash. Link Belt dealer is closer and was willing to match/beat some service and options on the machine plus it will arrive much sooner.

Brad, did you have a C before the D? Just curious, I have a C and am wondering how much different it is.

Shimmy, had a plain 210 before, 2005 model I bought new. Great machine that gave me 7000 hours of relatively trouble free service. I had a 350c for 6 months last year for some larger clearing projects we had. That was my experience with the c series. Thought it was slow, and sluggish. Salesman said they were focusing to much on efficiency. He had complaints about the c models. Good machine and we liked it, just wasn't quite as snappy. Totally different machine size wise so not great for comparing.

The 210d reminds me more of my old 9010, fast and strong. The older summitomo machines where quick, and relatively strong. The d series feels very similar. The return to dig cycle is actually decievingly fast. What's really hard to get used to is how quite it is. Engine doesn't ever seem to load up, no matter what your doing.
