Hello guys, I had an oil leak in a Kubota KX080 (8tonne) excavator, replaced the crankshaft seal from the hydraulic pump side and I have the machine leaking oil again, the crankshaft place where the seal rest its OK, without grooves, I see alot of blow-by escaping from the dipstick but not coming from the engine head:confused: Can seem to fin any endplay on the crankshaft either...

Any ideias?

Two things. 1. some crankshaft seals have to be installed dry or they will leak. 2. Your breather is plugged and the pressure inside the engine is forcing oil out of the seal.

I don't know what engine you have in that beast but there are two piece seal types now that need to be pressed onto the crank with a special tool. Basically it is a speedy sleeve mated to the seal and if the seal doesn't stay loaded onto the sleeve it will leak nearly every time.

Had a Kubota engine which developed oil leaks and a lot of blow-by through the dipstick enough to blow the dipstick out.

The breather on top of the rocker cover was not working due to some mud wasps had filled the release valve with mud, they got in through about a 3/16" hole in top of the valve.

Removed the valve cleaned it out, no leaks since and blow-by normal.

We took the engine out, we are going to inspect it, maybe put some piston rings and new head gasket, the previous owner was a machine killer, never saw a piece of equipment with only 2000 hours in so bad shape.
