Just heard Huntley Smith from Lytton has his two posted on another forum for sale now HD Hayes 55,000 US and the Pacific 50,000 US. Very nice trucks BUT !!!! See what you can find out Hank Maybe post a couple pics of them for the guys. I am still looking for good pics of Rons HD

That's a surprise to hear that he is selling the P9 as well as the HD. Some photos of the P9 can be found here when it made its first appearance in Cache Creek, it is quite the truck, very nicely done: http://www.cachecreektruckshow.org/gallery.php?Year=2015

I am hoping that my schedule is such that I will be passing through Cache Creek on the weekend of the show this year. We travel the highway from AK to the lower 48 1-2 times a year each summer.

Another interesting stop is outside of Tacoma WA. Check out the Lemay Family Collection on line. Mostly cars, but there are a few old trucks too. The collection is in warehouses and on the grounds. Everything from an old chain driven GMC log truck to all sorts of other old rigs.

Looking forward to seeing you down there; it sounds like there will be a good turn out again this year! Keep an eye on the website (www.cachecreektruckshow.org) for up to date information, not that I expect much to change at this stage...

I did lots of weird stuff at Pacific and tonight I remembered one...I recall putting a electric aux steering pump in a P-16 and the color red comes to mind.I mounted it on the inside of the left cab mount. The actuall steering box is on the outboard side of same mount..

I also remembering being told by engineering that nothing had been drawn yet and to feel free to come up with a mount and they would have a look at what I came up with.(it was approved)

Now I only ever remember putting aux electric steering on one truck..Does anyone remember a P-16 with aux electric steering..The truck must have gone to some place with scary down hills ....OK worse than normal scary downhills...

diamondtguy, how long would it take for a driver to know this pump is even there? Hard to see? What would activate the auxiliary?

Unless the driver new the truck had it he probably wouldn't even know.Memory tells me it just had a switch on the dash..The pump was more or less out of sight and out of harms way..You wouldn't see anything doing a walk around...

Interesting...What truck is that ?.Thats a nice little reservoir and filter system. The one I did had the pump on the inside of the mount where the steering box is mounted..
Battery box on the left side ??
I see all sorts of interesting things...

On older dumper trucks i've mounted such emergency steering i used the engine oil pressure ( or rather lack of it) as a signal to start the aux steering pump. Did they use similar systems on these trucks or was it manual activated?

HDX,this would not be the V-16. We only had one. 40-87. She had twin steering rams and that is how it was when she fell off the barge. This one would have been one of the Silver V12-92. Also Corey, she did have air start
